Me and my squad arrived safely in Spain – hurray! Several departures, delays, and bus rides later we stayed at an “Alburgue” in Pamplon. Today we start on the Camino de Santiago. The Camino is a journey of reflection and pilgrimage, a search for something of depth and value. I wanted to share something concerning Identity with you before I go, as cell service and WiFi will be spotty.*

(*side note for the curious – I‘m using email as my primary communication, or WhatsApp if you have a smart phone. No texting allowed.)

Here’s something I read on the bus ride to Pamplona, our launching point for the Camino. I condensed it for your reading pleasure. 🙂

“…False ways of achieving uniqueness [result] from attempts to to create a self rather than receive the gift of my self-in-Christ. But the uniqueness that comes from being our true selfie not a uniqueness of our own making. Identity is never simply a creation. It is always a discovery. True identity is always a gift of God.

“The desire for uniqueness is a spiritual desire. So too is the longing to be authentic. These are not simply psychological longings, irrelevant to the spiritual journey. Both are the response of the spirit to Spirit – the Holy Spirit calling us Home to our place and identity in God.”

Prayer requests: easy flow of travel, no injuries or setbacks, divine conversations with divine people, team unity

Praise reports: one of my teammates is fully funded! And another had her bag stolen and left in a bathroom with NOTHING MISSING. Can you say praise the Lord?!

Buen Camino!!
