It’s great to have people surround you that love you and support you – in every phase of life. Although Jesus is my ultimate Supporter, there are people – friends, coworkers and acquaintances – that God has put in my life for the sole purpose of support. Community.
It’s a Christianese word we use a lot nowadays, but there’s good reason.
My friend Hannah is going on a mission trip, too! Contact me to find out how you could support her! (There are cool t-shirts involved…)
STORY TIME!!! When we went to TN recently, my fam and I went ice skating. Joy and Priscilla and I went around the rink holding hands. “For a three stranded cord is not easily broken.” A three teamed balancing act is not easily tripped up. There was this one moment – Priscilla had gone off and done her own thing, spreading her wings and an independent ice skater – and then she returned. Instead of coming up from behind and falling into pace with us, she approached us broadside. If she didn’t change her trajectory, she was going to KNOCK US DOWN. And I had to avoid that. I hadn’t fallen yet! And I wasn’t about to fall, if I could help it. Joy, especially, didn’t need to be plowed down, as she had already fallen once while skating solo and was just building her confidence back up.
In what I can only describe as “the best moment ever”, I slowed Joy down and grabbed Priscilla by the shoulder, pulling her forward. Now we were doing an awkward pivot. But we hadn’t crashed! Okay, new problem. Due to all of the thwarting, I was moving fast, but Priscilla and Joy had virtually stopped. They were holding on to me, and if they jerked me to a halt, we were all going down! So I grabbed Priscilla’s shoulders and pushed her downward, and turned to face her. This change of direction and momentum carried me in her direction. I skated over my 8 year old sister like some sort of Matrix-meets-leapfrog act of desperation. And, mercy of all mercies. It worked. Joy and I never did fall.
And Priscilla, well she felt the rewards of independence along with the pains of skating solo.

I’m going on a trip around the world and finding touching stories and pointing out obvious facets of life (as a friendly reminder, mostly to myself). Come join me as I prepare for the trip of a lifetime.??
