Every month, our squad leaders press into the Lord and ask for a specific word for that month. We are encouraged to really pray over it and discover what God could be wanting to reveal to us, about His meaning for it, in our current season of life. Last week we were told that this month’s is perspective

With it being month 8, the future has been on my mind a lot. I’ll be coming home in 3.5 months. When I have prayed out to God about the next step in my life, he continues to put the word, foundation on my heart.

My natural instincts craves and tries to day-dream about 5, 10 and 20-year plans. But when I have brought that to God, He says, “we need to work on the foundation right now. One brick at a time. There’s no rush.”

While reading in the word this morning, I focused on the construction of the great palace that Solomon had crafted for God.

Back in 1 Chronicles 7:10-12, God spoke to King David, “…Moreover, I declare to you that the Lord will build you a house. When your days are fulfilled to walk with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for me, and I will establish his throne forever.”

This marvelous palace was intended to be a home for the Lord, and His children could come in and worship there. This had been promised to David, Solomon’s father many years before it began construction. God had a wonderful plan for the outcome of the project, and knew how amazing and majestic it would come to be.

The word foundation jumped out at me in 2 Chronicles 8:16, “Thus was accomplished all the work of Solomon from the day the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid until it was finished. So the house of the Lord was completed.”

Solomon took a lot of time and guidance from God to build that palace, from the foundation up. Without laying down the foundation, it would have been impossible to have the finished product.

While pondering this point God told me, “You are a home for me, the Holy Spirit. In order to  have a great palace, I need you to continue working on the foundation with you.

I then looked out the window and saw a black bird, which brought my mind to Matthew 6:26, “Look at the birds in the air, they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”

So once again I have had a perspective change on the race. I am continuing to desire and pray for patience in all areas of my life. I’ve found that when I chase after something that is premature, it bites me in the butt. Even though I would LOVE (you have no idea how much) to know what’s next, I am becoming content in not having a clue, but instead depending more on the Lord. I don’t think He’ll ever give me a 5-year plan, but instead just one brick at a time.

And you know WHAT… that’s kinda fun too. Well I’m working on embracing it. ha

One more quote to leave you with that I saw on Instagram this week. “If i had planned my life, it never would have ended up like this. So maybe it’s kind of fun not to plan. Maybe it’s more fun just to see where life takes you.” Spoken by the one and only, Joanna Gaines.

Alright folks. That’s all for now. Have a great Thursday!
