In my family my parents want all of us kids to do some sort of mission-focused gap year program after we graduate from high school. So I researched a variety of gap year program options. There are a TON out there!!! (I only looked into like 5 of the hundreds…)
In my research, I found Adventures in Missions World Race program. A few things that stood out to me about W.R. Gap Year is that there are a variety of countries that you can choose to travel to. I especially liked the fact that the route I chose goes to 3 different countries and is 9 months long, so I will be overseas working for almost the whole gap year time! Also, we will be spending a significant amount of time in each country to really get to know the culture and the people we will be loving on and ministering to, which means I will see more and really connect there.
I know it will make a bigger impact on those people and myself since I will be gone from my friends and family and immersed in a new culture. Plus, like 30+ NEW friends (who will become my instant new family!) are sharing in the experience with me.
