Ask anyone who knows me and they will agree that I am very impatient.

If I get an idea for something or an urge to have something I want instant satisfaction.
I want the idea to come to fruition right then.
I want to posses whatever it is at the moment I just have to have.

I think if we all take the time to be honest with ourselves,
each of us have this same problem in one area of our life or another.

It's  the curse of our culture.
If you were raised in America there are very few things you have to wait for.

We have:

fast food
instant downloads
financing…on anything.
fast cars
smart phones

Anything you want can be yours in at least an hour.

But this World Race business has really tripped me up.
Do I really have to wait 9 months?!
Where I'm from…THAT'S AN ETERNITY!

Now I find myself waiting.

Waiting on:

fundraising
conference calls
supplies to be gathered
support letters to be written
more information to make more plans

With this I can't figure things out and make them happen in 60 minutes.

A good friend sweetly reminded the other day that while she knows the feelings I am having (trust me…she can relate!) I had to try to stay present where I am right now.

His timing is perfect.

This is my encouragement and prayer for all future racers (and myself!):

Stay present where you are! God isn't done preparing you for this adventure.
Each day will encounter something that will change you to get your heart ready for this race.
Don't let the frustrations of waiting steal those moments from you.
Don't let the urge to rush things make you miss anything. When we are all looking back the preparation for this journey will be just as important as the journey itself.
