Woah look at me go..writing a blog about the month before the next month even begins! This is just a little info blog about what my team and I are doing this month in Zambia. I’m so excited about our ministry that I just had to share!

We arrived in Zambia late Saturday night on the 31st. Our squad spent a couple nights at a hostel so we could figure out logistics. Lucky for us because we were able to watch the Super Bowl at 1:30 Monday morning! Super Bowl without the commercials and halftime. We all heard Katy Perry rode in on a lion and left on a shooting star…too bad we missed that. Since we missed seeing the fake lion we all might make it up and go see an actual lion in Africa…no complaining here!

Okay, our ministry..oh let me tell you! We’re staying in the home of our pastor (Bishop Alick) and his wife, niece, and their one month old baby girl! The first day we moved in they were all so wonderful to us, and they haven’t stopped. Just so you understand how wonderful they are here’s the only house rule they have – SMILE. I wonder how much I could have gotten away with if that was the only house rule for me growing up!

Every Monday and Tuesday morning we head to a school that Bishop helps run. We all have our own classroom, mine being 6th grade. It’s rough having no teacher experience, but thank goodness for camp! My kids have learned various camp games, songs, and stories/activities we do during worship. My fellow camp friends – my students absolutely love “My God is so Big” and know “Word”, “Romans 16:19”, and the different variations of “The Lord’s Army”. I’m so thankful that those songs are permanently engraved in my head! They have heard about Gideon, David and Goliath, and we did an activity with dreams they have for their future. Oh, and I taught their English class one day! One day my teacher might even let me take over their math class about addition…watch out kids!

Wednesdays we head to a home in the evening for small group. I felt uplifted and at peace after we left our first small group the second day we were there. We shared some songs and then discussed the Kingdom of God. Thursday afternoons are spent at a nearby village where we go door to door with some church members and have mini Bible Studies. Fridays are our off days. Saturdays call for more door to door evangelism. This time we go to a village close by the church and do door to door. So far we have been able to talk with a man about some Biblical questions and invite others to church. The next day, at church, we saw one of the ladies we met from the village with her grandson!

So far the month has been wonderful. We’ve been able to celebrate 2 birthdays on the team – Vashti and Liana – and have a nice supper with our host family. It’s strange to think that Valentine’s Day marks the half way point for us on the Race – 5 ½ months down, 5 ½ months to go! It seems like just last week we were doing our all squad month in Bolivia, I was heading down a river into the jungle with my Peruvian host family, and I was meeting up with my Ecuadorian friends in Quito! These next 5 ½ months will go extremely fast so I’m not going to wish any of it away, no matter how badly I want to see my parents in May for Parent Vision Trip (PVT) or my sister in August.

Thank you for keeping my team and me in your prayers! We were all nervous going into this month so we’re extremely thankful for your prayerful support!

Blessings,

Hannah
