I want to thank everyone who has prayed for me during the past 10 days. My heart is so overwhelmed by your love. God healed me from malaria! I was recently diagnosed with it and brought to a nearby hospital for treatment. All throughout the following night I couldn’t sleep and was in so much pain. By 3:30 in the morning I woke up from a very high fever, extreme body aches and a large bump on my left shin. So, I awoke our World Race nurse to help me. Finally, at 10 in the morning I was brought to a Lilongwe, Malawi hospital; which was two hours away from our mission base to receive further help and treatment. The previous clinic had diagnosed me with malaria only a short 16 hours earlier. When we arrived at the Lilongwe hospital they took a blood sample and said there was no trace of malaria. Usually there’s a trace for a few days until all of the medicine is finished, followed by a trip back to the clinic for another test in order to make sure that there is absolutely no malaria.
God healed me because you believed Him to heal me! He used the malaria to bring attention to something else that was going on with my leg; which was a severe infection with so many horrible symptoms. The doctors were able to do the surgery just in time so that I wouldn’t have to live with bone damage for the rest of my life. Praise The Lord!
Since the surgery, I have had daily appointments at the hospital for constant supervision and cleaning of the wound that was left from the surgery.
Below are a few pictures to show the past few weeks:
The hospital staff were preparing me for surgery.
This was taken after my surgery. The anesthetic had worn off.
This is the day after surgery.
My wonderful nurse, Jonathan, who came to clean out my wound. We had a wonderful talk about the Lord. His heart is to become a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
My leader, Michelle Calderon, took me to the hospital to get my wound cleaned. It went well and I’m doing so much better! Everyday I’m gaining more strength. I want the praise to go to The Lord because of His healing me of malaria as well as a serious infection in my leg!
After my Malawian doctor cleaned out my wound, we asked if we could get a picture with him. We are going to make a goodie basket for the DR and nursing staff as a “thank you” for all they have done for me.
On this day, the doctor wasn’t quite happy with my wound healing as slowly as it is. There was still infection. So he gave me an IV to keep in my wrist and for five days they will inject stronger antibiotics. I am with our taxi driver who has faithfully taken us from the youth hostel, where we are staying, to the hospital for my daily checkups. He has been such a blessing!
During all this time, my heart has been so burdened for those who bow down when the Muslim call is given several times each day. God impressed upon my heart to use the Muslim call as a time for me to pray and intercede for the Muslims who live right here. God loves them so much! I want to encourage you to do the same in praying for those who don’t know the Lord God Jehovah. Learn to make prayer automatic when you see someone who you know is not saved. Maybe it’s a crazy hairstyle, a tattoo, or something else that makes you feel uncomfortable. That person may or may not know Jesus as Savior and your prayers could help through a difficult time.
