Month #3 Estonia
God did some amazing things inside of my heart during my month in Estonia. He put me in a place to where I had to wait on Him. I thought that waiting on God was easy for me, I thought I knew what it meant to wait on Him. But during my time in Estonia I learned a whole new way of being patient before the Lord.
There were so many brokenhearted people in Estonia… alcohol abuse, homelessness, broken families, loneliness and the list goes on. God was breaking my heart for the lost in a whole new way. It wasn’t about the hundreds of people being fed on a disaster. He was showing me the individual hearts and how He wanted to be intimately involved with the condition of those hearts. It was that “one” that He wanted to reach. It was Jesus and the woman at the well. It was Jesus and Zacchaeus.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Psalms 34:18
Our missionary contacts told us that they had been in Estonia planting seeds in people’s hearts for over a year but no fruit of a commitment to follow Christ had been revealed. They continue to build relationships and minister to people despite seeing no fruit from their labor. The Bible says:
You know the saying, ‘one plants
and another harvests’ and it’s true.
John 4:37
My team had the wonderful opportunity given by the Lord to harvest souls for the Kingdom and three precious men in Estonia decided to follow Christ Jesus! The Lord broke my heart for all three of these men. Each one had such longing in their eyes and And you could see how broken they were and how much they wanted a relationship with Jesus as we have.
After a church service one evening an older woman asked the pastor if we could go to her home and pray over and anoint it with oil. She said that she had been having some problems lately. So late that night the pastor, one of my teammates, the lady and I began driving to her home to pray. She told us that her son had been drinking. As we drove her son called and said that he did not want us to come to their home to pray. So we began praying for the young man that the Holy Spirit would work in his heart. When we got to the home the young man came out to the van and told us that he had changed his mind and wanted us to come and pray over their home. He was also sobered up. We began praying over the home and then ministered to this young man named Rual and his mother. You could see the brokenness in his life and he was listening so intently to what we were telling him about Jesus. We asked Rual if he would be angry at his one year old daughter if she feel down on the floor while learning how to walk. We told him that God was evening more loving then he is with his daughter and that when Rual falls Jesus will pick him back up again because of how much he loves him. He wanted to know Jesus Personally so that night he made a personal commitment to follow Christ and begin a relationship with Him. For the following weeks we were able to see Rual and minister to and disciple him in the Lord. He is getting involved at church now and is growing in his faith in Jesus.
Here are some pictures of the people we had an impact on for Christ!
We went to a youth camp and played games with young adults, did praise and worship, and loved on and prayed for them.
We gave flowers with encouraging Bible verses to elderly woman on the street. And went to a psych award to minister to people there. The lady in the orange shirt made and passed out thank you cards to us. It was so very precious.
We did a lot of youth ministry. And we also went to a school to tell about our time in Africa and what we experienced there. However, we weren’t allowed to say anything directly mentioning God but we showed them Jesus through our actions.
I want to once again thank everyone of you who have given to me so that I could do these wonderful things for the Lord Jesus!
At this time I have decided to leave the World Race and go back to the States because of some health concerns. I am still struggling with these health issues and greatly appreciate your prayers. Blessings to all in Jesus’ name!
