WHAT: The World Race is a program run by the Adventures in Missions organization. It is a program that sends out young adults from all over the world backpacking along the way and partnering with ministries to serve the "least of these," to go out into the world and minister to those who need to hear of the love and grace of Jesus. We will go to 11 different countries in 11 months and do whatever is needed of us in each particular place, whether it be helping out in an orphanage, building/painting/digging something, planting churches, helping victims of human trafficking (which has been my heart since I was fourteen years old), setting up sports camps for kids, serving the homeless and poverty-stricken, or teaching English- the list of possibilities goes on. Whatever we do, we will do it in the name of our Jesus.
WHERE: We will be traveling to Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, China, Thailand, Cambodia, India, and Nepal! I am praying that I will have opportunities to be involved in ministering to woman involved in the sex industry.
WHEN: We leave within the first ten days of January 2014 and will not return until the end of November.
WHY: For the past six months God has been stirring within my heart something new. I have been with Friend Ships/Sea Hawks (friendships.org) for the past six years. God lead me to Friend Ships and I have had the wonderful opportunity of being the food service director for the past three years, doing disaster relief domestically and internationally ministering the love of the Lord to the broken and lonely. I have seen so many lives changed and God provide time after time. The Lord has been tugging at my heart in this direction of doing the World Race for this next year and told me to step out in faith and He will provide. I am not sure what all I will be doing but I desire to just serve and show people God's amazing love that they may come to know Him and be set free from the burdens of sins. I am so amazed at how God has been providing for me just within a little over a week of finding out that I have been accepted. He is a good Daddy!
