Dear Friends and Family,
As you may already know, I am graduating in December from UTC! I am very excited about officially becoming a certified Special Education Teacher. However, what many people may not know is that I am not planning on getting a teaching position right away. Instead, I applied and was accepted to THE WORLD RACE!
The World Race is an 11-month mission trip to 11 different countries and is part of an organization called Adventures in Missions (AIM). I will leave for the race in August 2016 to embark on the 11-month journey, which will take me to the following countries: Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Ghana, Burkina Faso, India, Nepal, Cambodia, Thailand, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, and Belize. The group I travel with to each country will be known as my “squad.” Once in the country, we will split up into teams to serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children who are trapped in prostitution, and bring the restoration and hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations.
Wanting to do the World Race has not been an easy or rash decision. I first heard of it about a year and a half ago, and since then, a lot of thought and prayer has gone into my decision to leave my family and friends in both Chattanooga and Knoxville for nearly a year. I know for a fact that this trip will be the hardest thing I have ever done, but it will also be a trip of a lifetime and so rewarding, which is why I couldn’t be more excited!
With all of that being said, there are a couple of things I need in order to make this trip a reality. First of all, I want to create a prayer support team. On multiple occasions, the apostle Paul would ask for prayer for his missions when writing to different churches in the New Testament (2 Thessalonians 3). Prayer is a powerful tool and necessary while my squad and I spread the love of Jesus around the world. If you would like to partner with me in prayer, send me an email ([email protected]), and I will send you prayer updates throughout the year and my journey on the World Race.
Secondly, I must fundraise $17,161; this will cover meals, travel, lodging, training, and administrative costs. This is an overwhelming amount of money, but I have faith that God will provide. I pray that God will lay on your heart the desire to support me in whatever way you feel led. I am so incredibly excited for what lies ahead and to see how God will work in my life as well as the lives of others! If you would like to hear more about my trip, feel free to email or call me, and I would love to meet up with you to talk about it.
Thank you so much!
Hannah Richardson
