Like I said in a recent Instagram post, I’m simply bursting at the seams with thankfulness. My first financial deadline was to have $5,000 by May 13th. Guys, see that bar up there? I’m nearing $6,000. IN FEBRUARY! Thank you so much for helping me reach my first deadline, I wish I could hug you all!

When I share with people what this next year of life will look like, this question quickly follows…

“WOW! How much is THAT going to cost?!”

I have to confess something, often times I’m scared to respond. Scratch that, ALL the time I’m scared to respond. I’ll follow up with a long pause, an awkward grimace, and a simple, “It’s a lot, I mean A LOT…” Very few people press in and ask me to lay it on them. Most times I direct them to my blog for them to see that large scary number to the northeast of this sentence without them having to worry about gasping or acting too shocked in my presence.

I’ve realized that I can’t hide the amount anymore. I don’t need to hide the amount and that actually I never had to at all. Yes, it is a lot of money to me and I’m sure it ‘s a lot of money to you as well. But, as I’ve seen the donation amount rise and rise it has become so abundantly clear to me that it’s nothing to God. It’ll happen. Whether or not He’s leading you to support me financially, it’ll happen. He has been taking such thoughtful care of me, like having friends bless me with gear and with a couple I’ve never met before purchasing a plane ticket for me to training camp, It’ll happen.

It’ll happen because I can already see His goodness in it happening right now.

Some of my awesome squad mates (shout out August ’16 route uno) have dedicated a blog to explain the funds and WHERE they go, and WHY the number is so, well, large. Genius right?! I thought so too, so now it’s my turn!

WHERE DOES $16,561 GO?!

As a World Racer, the $16,561 is broken down by these categories:

  • Training Camp–$331 – (Covers my cultural training before departure)
  • Field Support–$662 – (Helping to get us supplies, local contacts, etc.)
  • WR Development Program–$1,987 (Improvements and Developments)
  • Administration Fees–$2,815 – (Processing, paying staff who sets up travel, meals, missions, etc.)
  • World Racer–$10,765 (My expenses)

As you can see, 65% of the funds that I will be raising go towards my expenses for the 11 months. Again, let me show you through a graph what this will look like.

My budget is broken down into these categories:

  • Intercontinental Travel–$4,844
  • Food–$1,399
  • Lodging–$2,045
  • Transportation–$1,184
  • Long Distance Travel & Misc. Supplies–$1,292

Important things to note about donations:

  • All donations are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Cash donations are not accepted by Adventures In Missions. The only way to donate with cash would be to deliver it to me and I will submit it to my account.
  • As noted above, donations take a few days to process. Even online donations don’t show up in the progress bar at the top of my blog until after being processed.
