Wow! Hey, Howdy, Hi, my sincerest apologies for taking a break on the fridates! To make up for it let’s call this edition …
FIFTEEN FANTASTICLLY FUN FACTS on this FINE FRIDAY!!
(with pictures)
1. In Botswana, we met and had dinner with the former president. That was crazy.
2. I created actual goals for the month of February! Some include… memorize 3 scriptures (I have 2 down, so 1 to go!), write at least two blogs, catch up with a few friends back home via email or video chat ( I have GREAT wifi this month! Let me know if you want to catch up, I would love to!) and to stop plucking my left eye brow (anyone else out there get a little tweezer happy?), like seriously give it time to grow Hannah, and many more!
3. My Parents are coming to Parent Vision Trip in Thailand during the month of April! I love how the World Race creates time during our year away to host our parents for a week in ministry. This provides space for us to do ministry together, join the racers and have a clear glimpse of what our lives have looked like for a year, and to TALK, like really talk! I’m so beyond excited to see them in April! (60 days, but who is counting… I AM) Here is a little video from another racer, about 4 years back, showing what their PVT week looked like, get ready for Thailand Mom and Dad! Watch a quick video about PVT here!
4. We are leaving THE BIG A (Africa) for the little a (Asia) in 10 short days…. again, who is counting? I am. I have been excited about Asia since before we left and it’s finally here!
5. $95 until I’m fully funded!! That’s it! I would love to start my time in Asia fully funded!!
** As of 2/18/17 I am FULLY FUNDED!! **
6. We got to celebrate one of our teammates birthdays this past week here at our lovely hostel in Tsumeb, Namibia! We were lucky enough to bake a cookie cake, find ice cream, and have a nice relaxing off day celebrating her! Birthdays are so fun, especially in a crazy memorable season like this! Happy Birthday Claire!
7. Air travel days are racers FAVORITE DAYS EVER! Can I get an amen?! After 3 months of long overnight bus and train rides lacking AirCon and fresh smells, the idea of spending time in multiple large airports and walking onto an Emirates plane is just about as ‘treat yo self’ as it gets on the field! Seriously. I’m already dreaming of the Cold Stone Creamery at the Dubai airport!! #YUM Also, have you forgotten about the FREE showers at the Dubai airport? Because I sure haven’t.
8. My clothes, ALL of my clothes have what I like to call, a special ‘funk’… It’s not an awful smell, but it’s not a pleasant one either. The majority of my clothes have been on a 3 day cycle for the past 7 months and I am starting to be able to tell. Special shout out to Old Navy, I didn’t know your clothes would hold up so nicely! (evidence of the ‘funk’ below)
9.Music is something that I love and have a passion for at home, and this love has only been solidified on the race! The chance to be able to block out the random roosters at all times of day, concerning gun shots (or fireworks), and tractors rolling down the road at the crack of dawn just by popping in some ear buds in? Yes please! Pair that with some seriously life giving lyrics? Double yes! This song is back in my top faves after taking a break for a little over a year… Give it a listen! John Mark McMillan – Heart Runs
10. I have picked up 4 new shirts and dropped 2 while being on the race making my total shirt count between 11 and 13. It all fits in my pack and I regret nothing.
11. I found one of my favorite journaling pens HERE… in NAMIBIA. Shout out to Pilot G-2. Wow was I one happy lady?!
12. I wrote not one but two other blogs THIS week! Wowza! Make sure to check them out here and HERE!
13. I have been thinking a lot more about my post race life and what that could possibly look like. As I have 4 (WHAT?!) months in the field left, I still want to be present. However the reality of heading home is starting to really sink in. I would love and appreciate prayers as I too prayerfully consider new options and dreams for this next new chapter of my life!
14. I asked The Lord for a word regarding my year of 2017. He gave me the word INHALE! Be on the lookout for a blog in the next week explaining this little yet literal life giving word and what it means to me in this year!
15. I drank Kombucha for the first time 7 months at debrief and oh WOW was it a dream! I wonder if my good friend back home still has my mother SCOBY alive? I can’t wait to get back home and start brewing again! Thank you to my fellow squad mate who made my day! You are the bees knees, Josh!
Until next time friends!
