Delayed post time!

I wrote this Friday update a few hours ago when I was still on the ground in Dubai. I’m currently somewhere over Southern Africa and am just going to post what I have! So, without further ado… it’s time for

FIVE FANTASTIC FACTS on this FINE FRIDAY!

1. IT’S SATURDAY, I THINK?! I’m currently sitting in the Dubai airport. Can I say that one more time? It’s 8:20am on Saturday morning and I’m waiting to board my last flight to Lusaka, Zambia! Let me tell you about this travel day… it’s been no joke. The travel began at 4:30 am in Skopje, Macedonia. We loaded onto a bus and headed for the airport to catch a 2 hour flight to Istanbul, Turkey. There we had an 8 hour layover, then hopped on an Emirates plane to Dubai! 4 hours on the plane landed us here in Dubai sometime around 2:15 am?? I think?? Another 8 hour layover and then one last 7 hour plane ride to LUSAKA, ZAMBIA!

2. DEBRIEF IS INTENTIONAL. I wanted to take time to explain the purpose behind our debriefs. While on the race we will have 4 different debriefs. The goal is REST! A few days away from ministry where we come together as a squad. We have different sessions lead by leadership, room for one on ones with our squad mentor, squad coaches, and squad leaders. This past debrief our leadership raised up new squad leaders and reshuffled the teams! Change is GOOD. Change promotes growth, makes it difficult to become stagnant, and provides the opportunity for us to do life with people we wouldn’t have had a chance to without this beautiful and sometimes hard thing called change.

3. NEW TEAM! Yup! That’s right! I’m no longer a TOV. It’s truly bittersweet, I’m excited for those girls to step into change and am expectant of what they are going to walk into with new teams and positions of leadership! Meet my team, ARISE! I’m looking forward to getting to know them and introducing you to them over this next season!

4. I’m logging about 5 HOURS OF SLEEP over the past 47 hours as I couldn’t sleep the night of packing…. PRAYING for sleep on this last flight! I’m actually feeling great but I can feel a 3 year old crying meltdown coming in HAWT.

5. SHOWERS ARE FREE AT THE DUBAI AIRPORT. Wowza, it’s amazing what clean hair, clean face, and a fresh change of some clothes can do for ya!!

I have zero expectations for wifi while we are in Africa. That might mean a few less Friday updates but please stay tuned! I know I will be doing ministry  in Lusaka, Zambia, and that’s about it! Looking forward to doing ministry alongside my new team! Wheels down in Zambia in 53 minutes!!

I’m still fundraising and I still have about $1,700 to go!
