Learned a new word this week: YESU ASHIMWE it translates to PRAISE JESUS.
Just want to make a list of what the world race is… the hard, beautiful and best parts. Even though it’s hard at times Jesus needs to be praised. Because, I’m thankful and he deserves the glory.
Cold bucket showers. Yesu Ashimwe, I’m clean. cold, but clean!
Using a squatty potty. Yesu Ashimwe, I have a bathroom and great friends who hold the door shut while I use it.
Being homesick. Yesu Ashimwe, I have a home to miss. Also reminded that Jesus is my home. It’s not a place my soul needs, it’s a person.
Living in communtiy. Yesu Ashimwe, There’s so much love, even though your only alone when you go to the bathroom. (still somebody might be holding the door shut… so you’re kinda alone?).
Sweating… a lot. Yesu Ashimwe, I’m hydrated. While probably loosing a soccer game to a bunch of fifth graders.
6 hour church service in a different language. Yesu Ashimwe, Jesus is alive and working. Until now I really underestimated my doodling abilities.
Eating the same food everyday. Yesu Ashimwe! I’m not hungry and I get to guess which food is in which pot! Great game.
Sharing a small room, with my teamates. Yesu Ashimwe, I have a bed. (that I share) but still a bed and a space to call mine… I mean ours. I love my roommates. though so it’s all okay!
Kids ministry. Yesu Ashimwe, they steal my heart everyday. Honestly, can they all just come home with me!?
Off days. Yesu Ashimwe, my team and I can rest. Burittos and wifi! I am so thankful for burritos. They captivate my heart.
Popcorn… it’s everywhere. Yesu Ashimwe, umm… it’s popcorn.
This is more than some cool instagram pictures and a break from college. I’m not comfortable. I’m growing. I’m seeing Jesus in new ways. I’m thankful for the hard stuff. It is as if the sun is shining as the rain is pouring down. Let me tell you, the view is beautiful.
Now don’t get me wrong, being home for christmas, going to my favorite coffee shop and taking a warm shower… wow… that would be nice. But for now, I’m here and I’m okay with it. I’m okay with saying yes to the hard, beautiful and best parts.
