You may have noticed a trend forming…

Yes.  Every single month I will be in a country where the official language is SPANISH.

You may not know me personally or perhaps we just haven’t spoken in a while, but I am madly in love with anything and everything Spanish.

Let me count the ways…

  1. It is common to be greeted with a kiss on both cheeks. 🙂
  2. HAVE YOU TRIED THE ARROZ y FRIJOLES? (Rice & Beans) and if you know me, you know I LOVE food.
  3. Speaking a language that every word sounds undeniably perfect to the ear.
  4. Enthusiasm. I am an extremely peppy person. It is rare that you have caught me without a smile on my face. I am happy and I get super excited about the weirdest things…guess what! So do Latinos! We get each other. We like holidays, soap operas, and coffee.
  5. Stray dogs EVERYWHERE…who doesn’t love a furry friend?
  6. Dancing, so much dancing! La bachata, tango, salsa, rumba…
  7. A passion for the arts. Throughout college I was able to delve into various aspects of the Spanish arts. Literature, Theater, Poetry, Film, Historical Politics… and for me, learning was never unpleasant. Latin America offers so much diversity in the arts, and it has always kept me fascinated.
  8. Shakira. Selena. Enrique. Pitbull. A song is always better with a little Latin flare!
  9. La Ropa ~ Clothes. My style is unique. I am intrigued by the colors and patterns that are traditionally worn by the women in Central America and the risks they take with fashion.
  10. The love for Jesus Christ is Universal. I am jumping for joy that I am able to partner my passion for everything Spanish with my desperate need to experience Jesus and serve him by serving the natives of these 11 beautiful countries.

So, although the World Race offers routes to Asia, Africa, and even Ireland…my choice to join the Spanish route was directly prompted to me from God. I am so extremely happy and excited about my decision, and I can't wait to share my experiences with you!

In the next blog I will cover what I will be doing in each of these countries. AND, what you can do to help support me during the race. I have many fun events in mind!
