Light. It’s a word I’ve had in my head for the past month.

I had no idea what to expect when I got to Malaysia. The only thing I knew is that it was a predominantly Muslim country and that it was illegal to evangelize to the indigenous people. I didn’t expect to feel as much oppression as I did. Not so much in the physical realm, but almost overwhelming in the spiritual realm. I could feel the spiritual barbed wire that entangled so many people around me. It hurt me to see, it hurt me to think about. And yet the Lord told me, “Hannah, you’re just getting started. You haven’t seen the worst of it yet.”

Light. That word kept popping up in my head every day, multiple times a day. Everything I read, everything I listened to, everything I saw…light.

At the end of the month, our squad went through our 3rd and final team changes for the Race. When discussing a name for our new team, I shared with my team members my new familiarity with the word light. Immediately we started throwing out different ideas and quickly settled on the name Lighthouse. A few days later, we received the ministry setup sheet for Thailand and found out the organization we’d be working with is called Lighthouse in Action. Lighthouse has a couple different outreaches, one of them being bar ministry, working with women, lady boys, and even pimps and bar moms who live in darkness. Who live in intense physical and spiritual oppression.

“Hannah, you’re just getting started…”

Please be in prayer for the two teams from my squad who will be working with Lighthouse in Action this month. Pray for freedom, for truth, for life change, and for God’s light to shine through us.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
