As one of our ministries this month, we got the opportunity to help out at a pre-school. When we first arrived there, I expected us to be giving a break to the hard-working teachers. I expected to be laughing with toddlers. I expected to help cook and feed the kids. I expected to sing them lullabies as they fell into the best nap time ever.
My expectations were [yet again] misplaced.
Don’t get me wrong, we definitely laughed with toddlers and helped the teachers wherever we could. But I don’t believe we were sent there by Him to help others, rather we were sent there so she could pour into us.
Mrs. Margaret has been living in Thailand for about 44 years now. She speaks Thai more than English now. She has an awesome husband and 2 intelligent sons! She is the director of a Christ-centered pre-school for 2-4 year olds.
While she was a piece of our month for just one short week, she taught me so much just by being herself.
•She taught me that everyone needs coffee and a few cookies to start their day.
•She taught me that being “Type-B” is a more fun and relaxing way of life.
•She taught me that there’s always room for seconds at lunch.
•She taught me that even when the world around us looks negatively, there’s always something positive to be noticed.
•She taught me that the Lord is the author of all–be thankful for what He’s given you.
•She taught me that He should be my passion, not much else should really matter.
•She taught me that Jesus would welcome everyone inside–no matter their outward appearance.
•She taught me that a little effort can go a long way.
•She taught me that smiling can never grow tiring.
•She taught me to seek the laughter in everyday moments.
•[Most importantly] she taught me to “Praise the Lord!“
Thank you for pouring into us more than you realize, Mrs. Margaret. God Bless!
