Goodie Goodie!

My month in Romania had a lot of different emotions behind it. It was in Romania that I was reunited with my squad. It was in Romania (kinda) that I found Greece. It was in Romania that I was poured into and loved. It was in Romania that I got to step out in faith. It was in Romania where I was challenged. It was in Romania that I felt homesick. It was in Romania that I had to be reminded of who God is and the purpose he has for my life.

As you can see, Romania held a lot of ups and downs for me. Living a month of my life with 54 other people versus 4 other people was a huge change for me. But what is the World Race without change? Haha

At first I was very apprehensive about being with my entire squad, I was overwhelmed at the thought of having to be joyful and energetic ALL the time for ALL the people doing ALL the things! It was a lot for me to handle emotionally. However, I got some great advice from one of our wise squad leaders, “All squad month is as overwhelming as YOU make it.”

Hmmm…how did I have the power to make something overwhelming or not?

Turns out, I do have that power. I do hold the key to this door of uneasiness. So, during all squad month I decided to throw away the key. I didn’t need it for month 2, I don’t need it for the Race, and I surely don’t need it for the remainder of my life. Why walk with heaviness?

I realized that during this time of vulnerability with the Lord, I had a TON of supporters. Not only did the 4 girls of my team help me to reach new levels with the Lord, but my whole squad did. I was truly blessed to have time with my squad.

After missing my niece’s birthday, I felt SO homesick! Couldn’t I just go home for the day?! Haha I miss my family and friends like crazy. I cried to my team about it and everything. But it was in that small moment where I saw a glimpse of the bigger picture. The times were I am the weakest, He wraps me up in His love and strength. I am truly blessed to have Him.

Our time in Romania helped me grow tremendously. I’m thankful for the challenges and the heartaches.

I’m thankful for Raul, Hope Church and their vision for the Balkans.
