It’s amazing to think that I only have 2 weeks left here in South Africa. It honestly feels like just yesterday our plane landed and we all piled off onto African soil. From the many sweet friendships I have made, to the AMAZING church services I have attended, I can very much say that I am going to miss this place. Jeffrey’s Bay has become such a sweet home to me. Some days I feel as if I am in America. I am in a constant state of reminding myself that I am over seas and that driving on the right side of the road is still not a thing.
I am writing this blog because I want to express the countless blessings I have received while being here:
1. Ces and Lyss, also know as the girls on my team. They are constantly encouraging me to BE better. From reading my bible and journaling, to standing up and praying for people on the side of the road; the two of them are always challenging me in new ways with my faith.
2. The boys (MEN) on my team. You can really tell how much they care about each of us girls. They portray what real brothers in Christ look like daily.
3. Our Cell Group we are apart of, also known as a bible study. I have never heard of cell group until I came here and then of course when I was talking to a friend back home she told me that we have cell groups in America too…We started going to our cell group in the beginning of January and words cannot describe how loving and caring each person is in that group. They accepted us in as their own. We have laughed together, cried together, and worshiped together. This will be something I miss most.
4. The support group we attend every Monday night. The support group has helped strengthened my faith, and shown me God’s power and mercy He has towards us.
5. The different ministries our team does every week. Our team has been blessed to be apart of so many different ministries allowing us to interact with many different people. Some of the ministries we have gotten to be apart of are: Global School, JOT, Horse Farm, Baby Clinic, and the Bakery.
6. Our host family that has allowed us into their home for 3 months. They have loved and taken care of us as if we were their own. I can’t even think of saying goodbye without tearing up.
7. My supporters that are praying for me back home. Without them I don’t know where I would be. Especially my family who kindly keeps me up to date with their lives even when the wifi might suck and we have to take long pauses between each person speaking.
8. The answered prayers that God has given me. From what I am going to do with my life to using my voice to tell a teammate her back IS healed, God has answered.
Everything about this place has been a blessing. There are many more, these were just the first few that came to mind.
