It’s so crazy to think that I have been away from home for over two months all ready. At times I find myself missing home, but pray that my heart stays where my feet are. This month that means being present while 2 of my teammates and I take care of 4 special needs children for 3 hours each day. My heart longs to love them like Jesus does each minute that I am with them. It has proven a bit difficult since they can’t communicate their needs, and I haven’t spent enough time with them yet to pick up on their clues. These children are so precious and so loved by God. They also have great staff caring for them. Our main role is to entertain them for the few short hours we have them to give the staff time to prepare lunch for the rest of the children.

The ministry we are partnering with this month is called Bykota House. You can check out their website at bykotahouse.org. They currently love and care for 19 children. We have the privilege of spending the month getting to know them and doing our best to entertain them. Mostly they wear us out half way through the day, but we sure enjoy them.

In the afternoons some of us have a chore list. Our host is so busy trying to care for her children as well as be director and we have the opportunity to bless her by cleaning. I feel so blessed to be here this month. We have air-conditioning every night, water that doesn’t run out, and toilets that we can put toilet paper down. God is so good to have blessed us so abundantly.

This is one of the cute nuggets I get to spend my month with. He loves snuggles!!
