Satan is a liar, destroyer, and deceiver.  He cannot be trusted.

Lately, Satan has be lying to me and telling me that I am not good enough to go on the Race. I am not worth anything, I am too introverted, and I am not Godly enough.  He has also been telling me that there is no way that I am going to be able to raise $15,500.

When I start to believe Satan’s lies I try to remind myself that God is GREAT

He has had his hand on me since I was born and He has been with me every step of the way.
God has been so faithful to me since I committed to do the Race.  Some of you know how God has provided for me but for those that don’t I want to share with you how faithful God is.

As I was making the decision to go on the Race I knew I was going to need to find a part time job.  About two days after I had committed to go on the Race, my mom gave me a call and told me she had found me a job with an afterschool program at her school.  The hours were Monday-Thursday from 3:00 to 5:00.  The perfect job for me that didn’t require weekends! I later found out that this after school program ends on May 14th.  For those of you who don’t know I have training camp for the Race May 18th– 25th.  I have since been asked to work the summer camp program that they offer in June.  The hours would be more, which is great for my last minute effort to save for the Race.  The camp ends June 21st, which leaves me a week for preparations before I leave for the Race! God is GREAT! This job could not be more perfect for my schedule!

One other goal that I want to accomplish before I leave for the Race is to get in shape.  A lot of what I am going to be doing on the Race is physical.  Some months we will be doing construction, we will be walking basically everywhere, and I do have to tote a 65 liter backpack full of all of my stuff for 11 months.  So I began looking into gym memberships and my goodness they are expensive! The monthly fee may not seem too bad but they get you with the initiation fee and for someone that is leaving the country in a couple of months it just isn’t worth it.  My mom was telling all of this to our family friend Carolyn who just happened to have a free 3 month membership to the local YMCA.  I now have a gym membership that lasts almost up until I leave! God is GREAT!

Fundraising Update!

When I started writing this blog I still needed $1,878.93 by May 4th to meet my first deadline, through some VERY generous donations I have reached and slightly exceeded my goal of $3,500.00! Once again God is so GREAT!

My next deadline is $6,500.00 by June 17th, which means I need to raise $2,628.93 in 52 days. I know this is a lot of money to raise in a short amount of time but I know it can happen. But I need your help! To donate go to the “Support Me” link at the top left hand side of this page.
