Let me start off by saying, I’m sorry I suck at writing blogs. The past 10 days have been absolutely insane and exhausting and honestly, every time I try to sit down and write something I end up falling asleep. But anyways, heres a little rundown of what I’ve been up to.
Sunday morning we finally made it to our ministry site here in Ratchaburi Thailand! Its a beautiful, quiet town surrounded by mountains. Upon arrival, we were told that our host’s wife was very ill and in the hospital, and that because of that our ministry would look a little bit different than we had planned. We were given the option to leave and find a new ministry if we wanted. As my team and I sat in a circle, praying for guidance over our decision, the Lord spoke to each of us and filled our hearts with overwhelming peace in the decision to stay, and to serve in whatever way we could.
I’m not gunna lie to you, the first few days have been challenging. We still haven’t received a translator, so communicating has been difficult, but we’ve learned that playing a quick game of charades and making a bunch of facial expressions can usually get our point across. We were thrown into a classroom with no idea what to do, but we figured out that “heads up 7 up” is a universal game and the kids love it. Thai food every single meal gets sickening and honestly rough on your stomach, but we have learned that peanut butter is gold and bread tastes amazing all by itself sometimes. Being some of the only Christians in the land of Budah can be intimidating, but we’ve seen God move in hearts in just these past few days.
As a team, we have learned to give a lot of grace because we all need a lot of grace. We have learned that 6 strong personalities shoved together in 1 house can be challenging, but also so beautiful and fun and helpful. We have learned that alone time is golden, but one on one’s can fill you up for the entire week. We have learned to laugh through adversities, and to ugly Kim Kardashian cry without fear because….well.. sometimes you just need to.
It has been a whirlwind of a week, but I have so loved every second of it. I can so clearly see the Father’s hand in every situation we’ve been thrown in. Please continue to pray for me and my team as we get adjusted to life here in Thailand. Also, please pray for my host’s wife as she recovers in the hospital.
P.S!!!! I’m still about $2,000 short from being fully funded and I have a deadline NEXT MONTH! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE consider donating today!! 🙂
