My parents have come and gone from Romania (a blog to come soon).

And I want to share an important decision I made a few months ago, that became real after my parents have come.

While I was still in Africa I asked my parents to bring me a backpack…HALF the size of the one I was currently carrying.

I had begun to become sick of the amount of weight I was lugging around, when I knew the majority of it wasn’t stuff I actually needed.

I could have dropped all the extra stuff, but the issue is it holds sentimental value. I got this skirt here, or that trinket there. Or someone important gave me that. The things all hold some small value from the trip, but I KNEW I could do it with less.

So as the months leading to PVT approached, I got more and more thrilled at the idea of a very small pack; one that would hopefully fit my essentials, and maybe even be lifted with one hand.

Yes I’m excited to let you know I downsized. But…

The main reason I’m writing this is to just remind everyone that we can live a lot simpler than we believe we can. The lack of clutter and excess things, or even the lack of materials has and will not hinder the joy, peace, sadness and grief that you encounter when you are chasing hard after God.

Yes, I enjoy looking cute. Yes I enjoy dressing up. Yes, I enjoy some luxuries, but I don’t NEED them. What I need is Jesus, ALWAYS. Everything else can come and go, ebb and flow.

So I look behind me with what I am left with…my tent, sleeping pad, basic clothing, toiletries, camera, laptop, journal, bible, pillow, and know that I could go with even less. I have no absolute need for these things.

But don’t take my pillow. Its my pillow.

So here is to the journey of living with less and living for more.

We will be heading to Sophia, Bulgaria for some time with the squad after PVT. Than we will be headed into month 10 in ALBANIA!!! Thank you to everyone who reads my blogs, I hope to write about things Im learning and experiencing!
