As I woke up this morning and checked my watch it was 6:06am.  Nothing in me wanted to leave my warm sleeping bag, then I told myself: “It’s for the kids.  It’s for the kids.”  I started to unzip my cocoon and it struck me.  “No.  It’s for You, Jesus.  It’s all for You.”  I went downstairs and sat in the bathroom line.  “Yes.  You’re the reason I wake up and get going.”  As much as I love these kids and as much as they love me and the team, Jesus is our purpose here.  By pursuing him and serving him, we are loving the children well.

Today I got to teach the older kids about King David.  We talked about how he was chosen by God even though he was the youngest of his brothers with a dirty, smelly job of keeping sheep.  We learned the story about how he stood up and fought Goliath because he trusted the Lord.  We were able to read Psalm 23 (in our new Nepali Bibles…thank you Pastor Timothy!!) and hear a song version of David’s praise to the Lord.  Today I got to listen as the kids sang loudly, “Our God is greater, our God is stronger, God you are higher than any other.”  And this part rang true for me… “And if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us?  And if our God is with us then what could stand against?”  The kids begged to hear “My Savior, My God” by Aaron Shust.  They love it!  “My savior loves, my savior lives, my savior’s always there for me.”

Yes, today is a day for You Jesus.  Let Your glory shine.  I am here for You.  And the wonderful thing is that there’s no place I’d rather be.  Our team went into the city of Kathmandu on Friday.  We saw tons of white people and it was quite weird to tell the truth.  Tourists were everywhere with lots of expensive gear and nice clothes.  People from Europe and America, young and old, coming to see the Himalayas and take their turn at Everest.  As we were sitting down to eat, Stephanie suggested praying for them and the city.  We prayed for the lost and the great need in Kathmandu.

While here in Nepal I may not be able to have my picture made at Mt. Everest, but I have so many pictures with my precious children that I wouldn’t trade for anything else in the world.  My team and I have come to the sweet realization that Everest is not our purpose here.  I’ve seen something much more beautiful and breathtaking than the greatest mountain on earth.  I have seen Jesus Christ, I have seen True Love here on the small campus at Happy Home.  I’m sure that Everest is unlike any other, then again I get to see its Creator everyday and His beautiful creation in these little lives.  He is the reason I’m here.  He is the reason I wake up at 6am, wait in line for a bathroom that I share with 12 people, eat rice everyday and go to bed tired.  I am here to love those that need it and introduce them to the one True Love.  I’m glad to be able to give Him to the Nepali people.

Smiling with Furlamu

There’s no place I would rather be,
No place I would rather be,
No place I would rather be,
Than here in Your love.

So set a fire down in my soul
That I can’t contain, that I can’t control,
I want more of You, God.
I want more of You, God.
