Dear Future Racers,
I know you’ve already devoured countless blogs and checked out all the race routes and pictures.  I know you’re wondering, “Could God really be calling me to the World Race?”  I’ve been where you are.  I’ve read every possible bit of information about the Race, prayed, asked for advice and sought clarity and peace.  I told God, “Yes.  I’m in if You are with me.”
In just four months time he has provided over $13,600 of the total $15,500 needed for my trip.  He has also overwhelmed me with emotional and prayer support.  I would say that he is definitely going with me!
So, now I’m at Training Camp in Tennessee with 48 of my teammates who’ve traveled from all over the US as well as Canada.  This week I’ve learned to try new things and meet new people.  It’s day six of Training Camp and I’ve got a few things to share about how to survive and love your squadmates in the process.

1. ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING – You should continually make an effort to think, “I’m willing to try this.”  Even though things are new or different, don’t limit yourself.  Be open and teachable to learn what God has for you.

2. PACK SMART – Pack what you think you’ll need for the Race.  Training Camp is a great place to know what to pick up later and what needs to stay home.

3. PRAY FOR YOUR TEAM – Pray before and after you find out your team assignments.  We are all part of the body and we all have something to offer.  See your team members as valuable and honor them as family.

4. TAKE THE INITIATIVE – Take time to speak to or at least introduce yourself to each person on your squad.  This may be really overwhelming at first, but you have the whole week.  It’s a good start to building squad unity early on.

5.DON’T FORCE ANYTHING – Some ideas and procedures may seem new or different than you’re used to.  You’re not the only one.  Be ready to let down your walls.  Don’t focus on trying to impress others, just be yourself.  You have a lot to offer and your new family wants to get to know the real you from the start.

These are a few suggestions to help make Training Camp a little smoother.  Don’t psyche yourself out with unnecessary worries.  God has called you to this.  Trust and obey – that’s your part.
