We had our second debrief this month in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Debrief is a time where the whole squad comes together for about 5 days and tries to cram in recaps of everything that happened to em the past 2 months. Luckily that means a lot of coffee dates, and Hannah and coffee go together pretty well. Debrief also gives us time for one on one’s with any mentors/squad leaders, and we also have interviews with Gray Media, as well as team debrief. Basically – it’s hectic.

But you can’t have all work no, play right? Thailand offers SO MANY things to do. I would be happy stayin in Chiang Mai for a little while. As in, book me a plane ticket here in August and I’ll gladly go. For one thing, there are more massage & nail places than churches in Kentucky here. And they are CHEAP. So I’ve had my fair share of 30 minute shoulder massages (my shoulders have been killin me…probably from my big ol backpack). Some of the other fun things I’ve done so far:

fish pedicure. for 40 baht {a smidge over 1 USD} you sit on a bench and put your feet in a big aquarium where little fish nibble off the dead skin. this means that they go between your toes too. yeah.. this ain’t my cup of tea.

sunday night market. so many clothes and bags and trinkets. this, in turn, led to a FedEx trip.

chiang mai zoo. y’all this one was pretty interesting. basically there is a big road in the middle of the animal exhibits so most everybody just tailgates and throws the kids in the back of the pick up truck with their bags of banana chips to see the animals. we walked. not smart on our part.

elephant ride. surreal. the scenery was so beautiful and i really felt like i was in the jungle book. however, elephant slobber is a real thing.

bamboo rafting. have you ever had one of those moments when you literally don’t have a single care in the world? that’s happened to me once – in an open field in switzerland staring at the alps. well…it happened again. the water was calm, the trees were all in the perfect spot, the weather was absolutely gorgeous. couldn’t have asked for more. God knew that’s just what I needed.

tiger kingdom. i got to cuddle with a 2 month old tiger. enough said.

banana rotee and pad thai. so they have these food stands set up every night just like the state fair and basically my staple meal is pad thai for din din and banana rotee for dessert. it’s a good thing i ain’t stayin here any more because it is makin me obese.

7/11. if you need anything, then pop over to the convenience store. they are literally on every corner. they even have the big gulp cups. who would’ve thought?

i’m off to the jungle for ministry for the next 2.5 weeks with my freshly done claws and paws. i don’t really know if wifi and running water will be a thing but i am SO excited to see what God has in store for us. we had a team change, and it’s all girls month! so the 8 of us are off to chaing dao. we would love prayer to reach the village people and show them the father’s love. i can’t wait to share about our ministry this month with y’all – it sounds amazing.
