Welcome to my first official Nicaraguan Sunday.
This morning when I woke up I knew it was going to be a completely glorious day.
At 8:30 we were all ready to go to church with some of the kids that live on El Ayudante’s compound.
Here’s the bus we rode for 45 minutes around Leon to get to church.
And I’m telling you, it’s not that we got lost. It’s that the bus goes around 5 million circles before it gets to our church stop. Below is us having a great attitudes and actually really loving seeing different parts of Leon.
Once we got off the bus we walked a few blocks through this neighborhood and ended up here, Iglesia La Hermosa. And this is where we stayed for 2.5 hours.
In church we sang songs, two of which were spanish versions of ones we knew- Revelation Song and Open the Eyes of My Heart Lord! We then listened to the Pastor speak. I couldn’t tell you a lot of what he said for the hour and a half. But from what Paola could understand, it was legit. He talked about Jesus’ transfiguration in Matthew, we read a psalm, we had to memorize a bible verse and recite it in front of everyone, we prayed, we sang more. We got a lot done. AND I prayed for some people on my prayer list when I couldn’t understand what the pastor was saying. Productive Sunday if you ask me!
Below is Paola telling the congregation about our trip!
After church we took the bus back to El Ayudante.
WHERE WE WATCHED DISNEY CHANNEL IN ENGLISH!!!! I’m not even kidding. Bedtime Stories was on with Adam Sandler and it was awesome and luxurious.
Lunch wasn’t ready til 2:48pm (I ate breakfast at 7am………) but it was DANG GOOD. Fresh fish with the head still attached, rice, plantains. Yum, yum, and yum.
Megan and Kristin pretty darn excited about their whole fish.
And for dessert? Fresh coconut juice from a coconut tree right outside the house. That’s Celeste and she’s 12 and she rocks.
Today was a great day- great enough that I’m posting a blog about it. God orchestrated it beautifully and I am soooo thankful and sooooo ready for a nap!
