Unsung Hero: One who does great deeds but receives little or no recognition for them.
This month has been one of my favorites on the race so far. We have been living in the city of Saigon (Ho Chi Minh) and have been doing UH for the whole month.
UH is one of my favorite ministries that AIM does strictly for the fact that we get to search and seek out new ministries for Aim to send future teams to partner with. Through A LOT of googling, word of mouth and just people that we have met, I have been blown away by the amount of people that we have been able to find this month. God has totally worked through this team to find some pretty amazing organizations led by some pretty remarkable people.
He has given us the opportunity to shine His light into this city and continue to pave the way for other believers to come in and further the work that is already being done here!
One of the other things that I love about UH is that your schedule is how you make it.
Living in the city we have been able to do a lot more with the people that we come into contact with on a daily basis.
People notice that you are here for more that just the late nights and the sight seeing. You get to build relationships with the sandwich lady on the corner, or the smoothie lady down the alley. Its about the relationships you build, and the light that you are able to shine!
Here in Vietnam it is difficult to be a Christian, because of the government it is hard to share the gospel and love of Christ through words. The biggest thing that I have learned this month is that sometimes words get in the way.
“Dear Friends, since God so loved us, we ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” {1 John 4:11-12 }
To show Gods love we are called to be different from those around us.
We are called to shine the light of Christ into some of the darkest areas.
We are called to be the salt and the light of the world.
Sometimes showing Gods love means showing kindness to the people on the street when others simply pass them by.
Sometimes just saying “Hello” and asking how someones day is, or how many glasses or trinkets they have sold is a way to shine the light and love of Christ.
Sometimes showing Gods love is meeting a 16 year old boy in the park who just needed someone to talk to and show interest in what he is struggling with. Showing Gods love is sharing the Hope that we have in Jesus to that same young boy.
Sometimes showing Gods love is teaching English to a group of students who may be hearing who Jesus is for the very first time.
“Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.”
{1 John 3:18}
I am so thankful for this month and the people that I have been able to come in contact with! Continue to pray for this wonderful country and the beautiful people that are here, that they would know Jesus and the love that He has for them!
with love,
Hanna
