Yesterday was a day like any other. I expected nothing more or less.
Actually just typing that now I am even more convicted than I had been. I didn’t go into the day anticipating a miracle, a God planned conversation or any open doors for that matter. I started my day filled with being in the presence of my Father, pouring out my praise of his goodness and taking in the truth of His sweet, gentle voice, but I never asked for more. I didn’t expect any divine encounters, but thats exactly what he gave me.
I was given the opportunity to share the gospel with a young girl who is a Jehovahs witness. I was able to tell her about the Holy Spirit and that He is alive, working and speaking this very day. I was able to pray for the Lord to have an encounter with her and to speak truth into her. Thank you Lord for what could have been just a moment of practicing English and opening the door to let your light shine!
Then I met Carlos. Carlos is 87 years old. He is suffering from all the affects of just being older in age. Carlos wept at the blessing of just a mere visit from some American missionaries he had never met before. He told us stories from the past. We laughed, we cried, we sang and we prayed for peace and comfort to overwhelm him. What may look like a blessing to Carlos is the exact opposite. Carlos was a blessing to myself from the Lord. Seeing the faith, joy and gratitude that this man carried brought me to joyful tears that just kept coming. I am so thankful for Carlos.
This brings me to the what if. If this was just a normal day that I didn’t ask the Lord for these divine encounters how much more could I and others receive if we actually did ask! So here is my challenge to myself and all of you….
What if….
You prayed healing over the person in the wheelchair
What if….
You prayed for the lady having a rough day in the check out lane at walmart
What if….
You have an encouraging word to your boss who is loaded down with the stress of his/her job
What if….
You started a conversation with the stranger in the seat next to you
What if….
We stopped caring what others thought
What if….
We stop being so afraid to step out and be uncomfortable or look like a fool and we step out in the boldness and confidence that the Lord has instilled inside of each and every one of us and just walk in the obedience of what the Spirit is asking.
What if….
We truly walk out what it looks like to truly love one another as He has loved us.
What if….
We did all of these things and he actually used us to be the hands, feet or voice to bring a miracle into existence
I guarantee you that we would all be praying for more divine encounters, don’t you?
