Selfless. The one word that comes to mind when I think of a way to describe you. You are the walking definition of what it looks like to put others before yourself. Day after day you sacrificed everything for your family and for all those around you. I watched you do so without grumbling or complaining. The humility you walk in is a testimony for all to see.

From my very first memories I have of you I admired you. It may sound cliche but you are my hero and always will be. You’re the first man to ever tell me he loved me. Always the man to encourage me to love me for me. You pushed me to follow my dreams and fight for myself. You taught me what it looked like to work hard and respect others. You taught me that being goofy is ok.

Dad, thank you for showing me all the qualities that a father should display to his daughter. Thank you for being the head of the household. Thank you for loving Jesus more than anything. Thank you for striving to bring us up the best way you knew possible. Thank you for giving up everything for you family to have better. Thank you for loving us and caring for us so deeply. Most of all thank you for not giving up on me. Thank you for surrendering me to the Lord. Thank you for the many sleepless nights and days that you spent on bended knees fighting for me in prayer. Thank you for trusting me in the Lords hands and knowing that He had a bigger better plan for me. Thank you for never giving up faith in me. Thank you for supporting me and encouraging me to walk in obedience to what He has asked of me. Thank you for always pointing me in the right direction.

What I wouldn’t give to hop on a plane and be right by your side right now. My heart aches from being miles away while you are hurting. However I am you biggest cheerleader even from miles and miles away. As hard as it is I have hit a point in my life where I have to fully surrender you to the Lord and trust in His perfect will. That is exactly what I have done this past week and I know that you are in excellent hands.

There will never be any amount of words that I could put in a blog to describe what you mean to me. I do not tell you enough how thankful I am for you and how much I love you, but I promise that I will spend the rest of my life honoring you and loving you for all that you are and that is MY dad.
