Hey y’all!!!
Our ministry at YWAM has consisted of beach ministry, base cleanup, church painting, and town evangelism! Here’s a COOL story.
We were in groups to go evangelize. It was a lot of our first times. My group prayed to have someone stand out. The day before we had gotten ice cream at this really cool shop, and a girl in my group had a vision of the two colors of ice cream she had – pink and yellow. As soon as she shared that I saw a woman wearing a pink and yellow romper riding a bike. I pointed her out and we approached her and said “hola” in the most American way. HA. She immediately responded with “Oh hey” and we were grateful she spoke English! We asked her where the nearest coffee shop was and she got off her bike and walked us there. It was the same shop we had ice cream the previous day. We treated her to ice cream and she gave us a quick tour of the town and told us about her life. She was so kind, open, honest, and loving. She LOVES nature and the beauty of it. That’s how she finds herself. We asked her if we could pray for her before we left. We all took our shoes off and stood in the dirt to be able to connect with nature. My friend prayed the most beautiful prayer. We weren’t sure if we’d see her again or not, and how soon. But the next day we went back to town and got in our groups and prayed about what we were to do and who we were to find. The same girl that had the pink and yellow vision kept hearing “love her” from the Lord. We prayed we would find this woman easily. We were walking to where she was staying and she saw us on the street and greeted us with a hug and a “I just finished up everything I had to do today. What are we doing?” We went for coffee and back to her place. She told us more about her story and experiences. This woman has endured more pain than I could ever imagine. Yet she is kind, loving, and giving to any and all people that need it. Our group has been SO blessed by her. When it was time to go we asked to pray again and she invited her friend to join us. After we prayed she thanked God for bringing us back to her and how much we have blessed her life already. We plan to spend our free day on Friday with her at the beach. She’s going to teach my group how to surf!!!! Please be in prayer for my sweet new friend. Pray that we would be a light of life in her darkness and that she would realize that nature comes from God. Pray for emotional healing from her past experiences. Pray the she realizes that all the times kindness and blessing have came back around from her being kind and blessing others is from God. We are so excited to continue this friendship. Prayer is SO SO powerful.
Long story short, evangelism doesn’t have to be knocking on doors and asking if they know the Lord. It can simply be forming a friendship and listening, accepting, and loving that person. Meeting them where they’re at like the Lord does with us. He doesn’t wait until we’re clean and nicely dressed. He meets us where we are to pick us up and save us. That’s what we must do for others. This month has been so amazing. Learning how to lean into Him when times are hard and life isn’t going as expected. At training camp we sang Reckless Love, and the Lord has recked us over and over again and each time he’s teaching us how to push into Him. Trust His plan whole heartedly. I am so blessed.
Thank you for your prayers!!
Love always,
Hallie
