25 days.
I literally had to stop and just sit here as I typed that. I turned to Chelsea just to confirm that this warranted the shock I was feeling. 25 days…just a little over three weeks. Is it really almost time to come home?
Let me start by saying that you’ll be receiving more blog update notifications. I feel like there’s so much that I still want to say, more stories to tell. More attempts at giving you a small glimpse into my life over the past ten and a half months. In related news, I’ve decided to write a book. I don’t expect it to get published or anything fancy; it’s mainly just something to take me back to this adventure when I’m old and gray. Also, it will give people more of a detailed look into this experience.
I know it will be hard when I get home and try to tell people about the Race. Will anyone really understand? My teammates will disperse to their homes all across the country. Will I feel stranded? Even though this scares me, I know I’m incredibly blessed with friends and family that will sit and listen to me ramble on for hours. I’m also super excited to have someone close by that’s shared this experience. I ran into my friend Tyler at the Bangkok airport a few days ago. We had a beautiful reunion moment, running in what seemed like slow motion through the lobby. Straight from a movie. We met at Chrysalis a few years ago, and he’s one of my favorite jam session buds. (He’s an incredible mandolin player). It was so great to run into each other. He’s not finished until November, so check out his
blog and show your support.
To give you a quick update, we’re now safe and sound in Chiang Mai, the second largest city in Thailand. The teams have been rearranged because of ministry specifics. I’d like to introduce Team Redeemed. We’re the female combo of Team Ninja and Shekinah. Sadly, Monica’s father passed away last week so she returned home to be with her family. Please keep them in your prayers during this time. She’ll be back for final debrief, so we can’t wait to get her back.
(FYI- The baby will not be joining us for ministry. She was the biggest baby we’d even seen, so we just wanted a picture,)
I’ll post more specific info soon about what ministry will look like this month. There are basically two parts: working in a cafe and meeting college students during the day, followed by visiting bars at night to hang out with prostitutes. Is this really my life?
As we enter this home stretch, please keep us in your prayers. This will most definitely be the most difficult work we’ve done yet. We were told by our contact to prepare for battle. We would appreciate your intercession as well.
Sorry in advance for flooding your inboxes this month! Amost to the finish line…
