Hello friends, family, and strangers!
I sent out support letters! If you haven’t received one yet and would like to, please let me know. I’d be more than happy to send you one! In each envelope, I included the letter (pasted at the end of this blog) and a form that makes donating through the mail to Adventures in Missions a little easier (although donating online is definitely the easiest).
I pray that you will read through this and prayerfully consider everything! Also, if you know of anyone who you think there is even the slightest chance of being interested in knowing about my trip or wanting to donate, please pass this along! Show them the link to this blog or even pass along their address and I will send them a letter!
If you have any questions, call or text me at 217-972-8561 OR email me at [email protected]
Donating Options:
1. Online
- Click this link: https://haleyvaughan.theworldrace.org/(aka this blog page you are reading right now) and select the “Donate” button
- Type in the amount you’d like to give
- Select one-time or monthly donation (For monthly, you select a start and end date. I have to be fully fundraised by the 4th month of my trip, so November 2019…and if I’m fully fundraised before then, I will notify my monthly donors so they can cancel any future months if necessary).
2. Mail to AIM
- You can mail a check (no cash) to Adventures in Missions. Make checks payable to Adventures in Missions. You MUST include “World Race Haley Vaughan” in the memo line, otherwise the donation will not be directed toward my account. Checks can be mailed to: Adventures in Missions, PO Box 742570, Atlanta, GA 30374-2570.
3. To Me
- As mentioned in the letter, I have other expenses for this trip that Adventures in Missions will not handle (travel to and from my start and end points, all of my gear, etc.).
- If you’re wanting to donate toward those expenses, you can mail (or give to me in person) cash or check. If you’re donating a check to me, please make it out to “Haley Vaughan”. Email or text me for my mailing address. I decided it probably wasn’t safe to put my home address up on the internet for anyone and everyone to access haha.
4. Venmo or Cash app
- You can use venmo to donate as well. My venmo username is @haleyvaughan
- You can use the cash app to donate. My cashtag is HEV
This is something I am REALLY having to trust the Lord with, and I thank you for any consideration in donating toward this mission trip!!!
Also, I posted this YouTube video to my Facebook about a week ago, but if you haven’t seen it or want to watch it again, click the link. It’s just a short video to give you a better glimpse of what my journey will look like through the eyes of some people who were actually out on the field: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiYUDhkLpTw
The following is the letter I sent out:
Hello family and friends!
First off, thank you for taking the time to read this letter! In the past, I’ve had the amazing opportunity to go on a couple mission trips to Haiti. God used those trips to show me the brokenness that is in this world. But more importantly, He used them to show me the hope that we have in Him. I got to see life transformation occur right in front of my eyes as we shared the love of Jesus with everyone we encountered.
In March 2018, I began reflecting on my future and what God has in store for me. That is when I came across a trip called The World Race. I felt that God was calling me to serve Him outside of my comfort zone, so I spent the next 6 months in prayer and seeking wisdom until I applied. A few weeks later, I was accepted to a team that launches in August 2019, just a few months after my college graduation at SIUE.
The World Race is an 11 month long Christian mission trip to 11 countries around the world. My route will take my team and I to South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina! This is put on by an organization called Adventures in Missions (AIM). Through The World Race, my team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in human trafficking, and bring the restorative hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations.
I will face many challenges all throughout The World Race, but as I prepare for my departure, one of my greatest challenges is financial support. In order to launch in August, I need to raise $25,000. Of this, $19,200 will cover all of my field expenses for the 11 months of the trip (food, lodging, insurance, supplies, training, etc), $1,000 will cover my gear (I’ll be living out of a backpack and sleeping in a tent), another $2,000 will cover my student loan payments that would otherwise prevent me from going, $2,000 for daily expenses, and $800 for travel to/from my start and end points. As I step out in faith, I am asking that you come alongside me by partnering with me financially and/or in prayer. Some specific prayer requests are for peace and provision as I get ready to set out on this journey!
If you wish to stay updated on my adventure, I’ll be keeping a blog at haleyvaughan.theworldrace.org. You can donate online directly through my blog, to me with cash or check, or by sending a check to AIM. If sending a check, fill out the card that came with this letter and return it back to me or directly to Adventures in Missions.
I’m confident that the Lord has incredible things in store, and this pursuit is one step closer to the calling that the Lord has for me. I’m so excited for this journey and to see how God moves in these places!!!
Thanks so much for your consideration!!! Let me know if you have any questions. You can reach me at 217-972-8561.
Blessings,
Haley Vaughan
