Hello friends, family, and strangers!
I’m keeping this blog short, but I just wanted to give a route update. Some things have changed, and my squad and I will no longer be traveling to Bolivia on the race. Instead, we will be going to Chile for the month!! Ecuador has also been added to my route. We will be there for one week during the Parent Vision Trip (parents get a chance to come spend a week doing ministry with us around month 9). So, I will now be going to 12 countries in 11 months.
My route is now: South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Peru, Ecuador, Chile Argentina! If you saw over the last 11 weeks, I shared info about each country I will be going to. I wanted to do the same for both Chile and Ecuador.
Chile stretches two-thirds the length of South America. It is a country rich in history, culture, and the arts, and is a popular tourist destination in South America. Chile is also one of the most prosperous and successful countries on the continent, with a high standard of living and continual economic growth. There are a lot of people in Chile who identify as Christian but don’t know the love of Jesus.
Even though Ecuador is one of the smallest countries in South America, its landscape includes highlands, beaches, the Amazon and the Galapagos Islands. The people are both very proud and very friendly and welcoming. Most Racers work with long-standing partners who minister to at-risk children living and working on the streets, special need hospitals, and elderly homes. Many Racers also work a lot with church planting and on college campuses.
With Love,
Hals
