The past week has been a whirlwind. Monday I started out feeling uneasy because I didn’t know for sure how I would be able to build relationships with the students that I would be spending time with. However, as I began praying God started answering. It became more and more easy to build those relationships as the days went by. A couple of other girls on my team and I have been shown around Lezha by some of the students and taught about the history of this beautiful city. I have also started developing relationships with the people at the coffee shop right across the street. Even though we speak different languages over the course of a week that barrier has become smaller and smaller.
Even though I have been developing these relationships with the students and around the city I still felt like I could be doing more. So my prayer for the past few days has been, “God what more can I do.” The answer to that was so obvious that I felt so dumb when He told me, “Pray for the people.” So over the past few days I have been praying for the people I have built relationships with that God would guide our conversations, or He would spark interest in their hearts. Today, I saw that prayer answered!
As I was standing in a circle with a group of people a girl saw a wristband that I wear every single day. On it it says The World Race Mark 16:15. She asked me what Mark 16:15 said and honestly I had never bothered to look it up. I got my Bible out of my bag and as I was turning to that verse she asked me “Is that the Bible?” I of course told her it was. I then read the verse out loud to her. Mark 16 15says “And He said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” After I finished reading that to her she asked me if those were words that Jesus spoke. I told her they were. She paused for a moment and thought and then said “Hmm, that’s interesting.” After that she went back to the conversation that the rest of the circle of people was having.
I have been so amazed at how God has been answering prayers this week and how He has allowed me to develop relationships and be a light for Him. I can’t wait to see what else He has in store.
