Family, supporters, my friends,

Here we are in HONDURAS, just a little ways from Tegucigalpa. Since our route changes have been fairly recent, our journey here was kind of puzzled together as we went.

From Washington DC we took a midnight bus to New York to catch a 10 am flight to Costa Rica. Once in Costa Rica we then took a 6 hour (or so) bus ride to a hostel in Nicaragua. After spending a short night there, we got back on the bus for about half a day and ended up here in Honduras!

We’re staying with a contact named Tony, who runs a place where troubled young men live to turn their lives around. Currently there are 8 or 9 young men living here who just months ago were on the streets, using drugs and getting into trouble, but are now learning to be men of God.

Interesting fact: the place that we are calling home this month used to be the most well known club/drug point of Tegucigalpa… and now it’s a place where people come to learn more about the Gospel!

On a personal note, this all feels like a dream or a twisted vacation. It is starting to finally hit me that I am going to be away from my home for basically a year. I’ll be away from my mom, my best friend, my boyfriend, my sister, etc, for eleven months and, now, it’s kind of sad to think about.

But, I just keep reminding myself that I am going to be such a different person when I go back to the States; that I am going to learn so much over this next year and that I will be so much better inside for all of the pain I know I am going to endure over these next months.

One more interesting fact: I got dreads.
(Surprise mom!)
