So here we are in GURA BICULUI, MOLDOVA, for month five of this Race!
We are actually staying in what would be considered the polar opposite of what you would expect for the World Race (thank you, expectations). Our abode for this month is actually in the village’s community center, which hosts weddings, conferences, and is also a restaurant at night.

Where most previous months we have all crowded over a tiny stovetop, now we have a restaurant’s, high-quality kitchen at our disposal.
Where we were starving for area to do quite time in our small living quarters before, we now can get lost in the abundance of rooms.
Though this seems like a huge luxury on the Race (which it is!), it can also be a huge challenge. This lifestyle is basically the same as the comforts of America, something that you come on the Race to get out of.
So this month our team has the challenge of growing Spiritually and in depth with one another while in a “normal” setting, such as one you would find back in the States.
Now, when I refer to we and our team, I am not referring to Depths of Freedom.
At the beginning of this month, during debrief, there was a team change. From the whole squad my fellow sister, Erica, and myself were switched to each others’ team. She went to Depths of Freedom and I joined Spirit Reign.
There are EJ and Lauren from my team of the first three months (Team Kina), so it was as if we were reuniting. But man, it was difficult to leave my old team behind. I had gone through so much with them to the point that they really did feel like family, like a church is supposed to feel like.

[[ Saying goodbye to Team Depths of Freedom ]]
Though there was sadness in our parting, this “new” team has been so good! I feel as though my wisdom is being more challenged on this team and challenged more often, rather than being brought out every once and a while.
Prayer is more fervent, encouragement is more abundant, and constructive criticism is more accepted.
At the beginning of this month when I was still settling down from team changes, I came across a verse that has personally proved helpful through this month:
Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? Give us aid against the enemy, for human help is worthless, with God we will gain the victory, and He will trample down our enemies.
-Psalm 108: 10, 12-13
This month has shown me that human help and human words really don’t make an impact worth keeping, but when God is speaking through someone or acting through someone – whew – that makes all the difference!
