It’s the time of relaxation; the time where there are no worries – school is out for a month, family and friends are yearning to see you, free food, free clothe washing, and free heat galore! It seems this life would be easy, being in the comfort of my own home, with love and laughs at my fingertips.

Really, I know this will be a difficult month. Returning to my comfortable house is more of entering into an unfamiliar portal. It’s a dangerous place here. A place where you can fall into laziness and carelessness without even realizing the transition. The hope for learning and the strife for challenge is a daunting task, but I’m up for the adventure!

I’ve always thought talking to family about important things in life as extremely difficult. Topics like, oh I don’t know, faith. You want so much for them to know the love and joy that you do, but in the end how would you really know what is in their heart? You know that they will be there for you no matter what, but you don’t want to chance them turning a cold cheek to you for what you profess.

Mentioning God and accountability to family is like going
sky diving. You don’t want to jump out of the plane due to
fear of falling. You look out at all the possibilities and see
that it’s much safer INSIDE the plane.

You don’t know what exactly is to come, but you put your
trust in the hands of someone who knows what they are
doing. There lies a risk, but you know that no progress will
come of anything unless you make that move – you jump!

Falling is the thrill, as is with a great conversation. The
experience is something that you could have never
expected; you’re grateful that you took the chance.

And what do you know – you’re skydiving.

Recently I’ve been thinking of my future challenges – what to pack for 11 months, how to stay in contact with everyone, how to personally grow my faith along the journey. In reality, I should be focusing on my challenges now.

There are people surrounding me every day, yet I still pass up opportunities to talk to them about faith, hope, love, and truth. I get preoccupied in silly things like time, deadlines, and sleep.

When I do take the chance to indulge in a fruitful conversation, it’s glorious! You sit there, talking, while wondering who it is talking.

“Where are these words coming from?” you wonder.
“Man, I sound great! I’m so knowledgeable!” you say as you attempt to compliment yourself. But really, it’s not you doing the talking, it’s GOD.

It’s an amazing happening when you have a one-on-one conversation about faith with a family member. The joy, the glory given to God – it’s a feeling and blissfulness like no other.

Never had such an experience? Try skydiving.
