When you have everything you need to do what God wants you to do and know what God wants you to do but you don’t have what you think you need; God wants you to see something you wouldn’t see, if you had what you thought you needed.
This is the truth revealed in ever aspect of this month and for the World Race in general. This is applicable truth for daily living. We wake up every morning having some idea of what the day will hold. We make plans for the things we will need to accomplish such as the consumption of materialistic things, putting on our spiritual armor, and the daunting list of things to get done.
Coming into the WR there were many things we thought we needed in order to make it through this 11 month journey so with those things in mind we came prepared to the best of our knowledge. Now being here actually on the field there are things we think we wish we had that we don’t have and have things we don’t need that we thought we needed to survive and haven’t even used.
So many times in our spiritual journey we are told we need this or that to further our walk with the Lord or to be prosperous in His will and plan for our lives. The Lord has equipped each of us for our own spiritual journey with Him and equipped us with everything we need for the journey He has called us to. He has given us everything perfectly according to His will. We are lacking nothing in Him.
While here in Guatemala the Lord has really been showing me that in Him I lack nothing and that He has given me everything I need. It is in the moments that I think I don’t have what I need the Lord shows up the most. While on our construction site I was digging holes for post to be put up for a fence. There sat a little boy named Walter. This kid was only 10 and one of the hardest working people I’ve ever seen in my life. ( I know a lot of hard working people) This kid was giving 110% at the work he was doing, while having a huge smile on his face.
Day two of working with Walter I got the chance to work with him side by side digging the same hole. While standing there all I could do is smile and I was like Lord I want to talk to this kid! I don’t know Spanish!!! The Lord spoke to me and said, “you don’t have to speak his language, speak to him with my love.” I was like whaaaatttt????!!!!?? So for a while We sat there digging the hole for this water drain and kept laughing and playing. The Lord gave me what I needed to open a door to a relationship with Walter when I thought I had nothing He fully equip me for is will and purpose.
Later that day I had my friend come over and translate for me so I could ask Walter questions about his life and if he knew Jesus. Long story short: Walter is 10 years old working to provide for his family- his dad died last year- he has 7 siblings- he knows about Jesus but doesn’t understand who he is but he is a God’s beautiful child. He has the most precious heart and smile I’ve ever seen. One day he will be a mighty warrior for the Lord!!!
We were able to spend time with Walter sharing with him about the Lord and that even though he doesn’t have an earthly father, that he has a daddy in Jesus. We prayed over him and got to explain to him prayer and that he can talk to the Lord at anytime.
Being able to invest in Walter, the Lord used it to show me that when I think I don’t have what I need that He has given me EVERYTHING I need to make His kingdom come even if it is just bonding through the love of Jesus with no other means of communication. There is so much power in the LOVE of the Lord.
My job is to believe without wavering- His job is everything else and He always comes through.
We are called to have that CHILD LIKE FAITH for a reason. If we truly have it we can move mountains in His name.
Praying and believing for those mountains to be moved on this journey!
Prayer request:
Walter and his family- for brokenness before the Lord, salvation and stability within their home
