Hey Team!!
Great job with getting all your bios posted on Relief.TheWorldRace.Org. It’s been great reading a bit about you and seeing you get to know each other.
In the midst of all your bios and comments, I noticed something that needs some clarification. These two blog sites have very separate purposes. Because of your assignment to post your bio, those purposes got a little muddled and I want to clarify that for you.
Relief.TheWorldRace.Org – This is a PUBLIC blog for the whole world. The point of writing on this blog is so a random stranger who googles “Haiti Missions” finds YOUR story. They read what God is doing in YOUR life and God uses what He is doing in YOU to change them. This is where you impact the world – everyone from your mom to your neighbor to your church to strangers – through what God is doing in your life.
HaitiJune10.TheWorldRace.org – This is PRIVATE blog just for your team. This is where you get to know each other, make plans to road trip, see the commonalities you all have, etc. It’s where we will communicate to you and where you communicate to each other. It’s like your backyard clubhouse – Members Only.
Like I said…you guys are doing a great job in posting your bios. However, most of your bios are directed toward your teammates… introducing yourself to each other. Then you guys are doing a great job with beginning to build community by commenting and sharing with each other. However… this is again “inside the clubhouse” talk.
The reason for two separate places is simply this… your stories are going to change the world. We’ve seen people come to know Christ, enter into missions themselves, and have their entire world changed, all because of a story on a blog from a World Racer. We know this is going to happen. But if I’m a stranger and I come across the relief.theworldrace.org site and I see that you’re writing to your teammates…. or your teammates are writing back to you… then I stop reading. I realize that this is a secret clubhouse that I’m not a member of, so I won’t come back. You’ve lost your audience.
So here’s what we’ll do… Don’t worry about what is already posted out there… it is what it is and God will use it just how it is. But from this point forward, when you post on relief.theworldrace.org keep your audience in mind. And when you are reading each others’ stories there, continue to keep the audience in mind before commenting.
Then… let’s get this blog up and going more and more. Those conversations in process on the other blog… let’s move them here! I want you guys to get to know each other, make jokes, make plans etc, etc. But let’s do all of that on this blog instead.
