Packing Tips and Things To Keep In Mind:
It is generally a good idea to pack a change of clothes in your carry-on bag.
Be sure to check TSA guidelines for what can be in your carry on. Always check your pockets and bag before going through security.
Consider packing your clothes in stuff sacks, packing cubes, or even heavy-duty Ziploc bags. This will help with organization in your pack and protect your clothes from spills and foul smells gathered from around the world.
Once you have an idea of your location, check on the climate to pack appropriately. You can use www.countryreports.org.
Clothing Needs:
1 fleece or a sweatshirt is a must. Even in warm climates, nights may get cool.
1 lightweight rain jacket go for quality lightweight and breathable. With your sweatshirt or fleece, this layers into a warm jacket.
1 hat or head covering for sun or bad weather.
1 pair of shoes for everyday wear. Consider a trail-running tennis shoe. They are lightweight and have good support, tread, and durability. Full-covering shoes will need to be worn in some communities for sanitation reasons.
1 pair of good sandals. Many racers prefer Chacos, Tevas, or Keens
1 pair of cheap flip flops. These work great for shower shoes.
Enough underwear and socks. Laundry may or may not be available!
Toiletries: deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, soap, shampoo, shave gel, razor (just bring one of everything; you can purchase more in other countries).
Notes For Men:
A dress shirt and dress pants are required for church if you are preaching or leading an aspect of the service. You can get away with wearing T-shirts a lot of the time, but you may want to wear collared shirts regularly. Please do not wear sleeveless shirts. Shorts aren’t worn much so plan on wearing pants most of the time.
1 nice outfit (dress pants, shirt, tie).
2-3 pair of pants to wear daily. Consider the zip-off travel pants that transform into capris (not shorts, they are too short), dry quickly, and are breathable.
 2-3 pair of long shorts
7-10 shirts. The breathable and quick-drying kinds are great. Nice collared shirts are available at some outdoor stores.
Notes for Women:
All clothing must be modest. Pack mostly shirts that cover your shoulders. Pack 2-3 skirts that are below the knee and at least one of those should go to your ankles. Skirts are worn for many ministry settings. There will be opportunities to wear pants & MODEST shorts on your off days and around the house.
 2-4 skirts or dresses
 7-10 tops
 3 casual pants
3 pairs of shorts that come to the top of your knees. Running shorts are not appropriate.
1 modest one piece bathing suit or modest tankini (should cover the stomach) some places will require shorts as well
Enough sanitary products for the entire trip. There will be some areas of the world where you can re-stock, but not all brands are available. Some familiar brands may be available.
 Light, non-expensive jewelry.
