Hi guys!

Due to an incredibly long day Thursday and a lack of prior preparation, I missed my weekly post (which I have decided to call “Thirsty Thursday’s” – thirsty for more of Jesus, get it? “Too lame,” you say? That’s too bad haha). Anyway, to make it up to you guys, you get two posts back to back!

It’s interesting how, sometimes, you start writing and the story just flows. Other times you write and you really aren’t sure where it’s going. Well peeps, this is one of those, so I apologize for it not being my best work. This is also my 8th topic/way of starting this blog and this is the only one that felt right-ish, so that’s fun too haha.

Three afternoons a week, our team, Team Agape, goes to Marla’s House. Marla’s House is a safe house for girls who live in abusive or at risk situations. The goal is to provide the girls a safe, home-like space to live and to teach them about God’s love for them. We hang out, help them with homework, play, and just try to show them that they are loved.

I’ve been able to get especially close with the three youngest girls. Two are six and one is eight. Today we played non-stop, full tilt for the entirety of the two hours we were there. Freeze-Catch (aka freeze tag), duck-duck-goose, Sharks (you have to catch the girls on the playground but you aren’t allowed to be on it if you’re the shark- because you have to stay in the water, aka not the playground), and how to play some legit hop-scotch. They wore me out. These girls have such life and their smiles are so radiant.

Karlie and I were talking on the way back from Marla’s about how hard it will be to leave them. We are at the halfway point for this month and have a week and a half left here (that in itself is a little mind-blowing). How do you invest in people’s lives and then leave? It’ll be an interesting thing to work through for sure.

Kind of a rambling blog, but it’s going to have to work. Peace out fam, until I get my second one written anyway- so peace out for maybe an hour.
