From December 19-26 I was in Samochema, Botswana, camping and evangelizing and taking bucket showers outside and celebrating our Saviors birth. Over the course of two days, we saw over 35 people receive salvation and over 15 people healed. This blog is about just one of those healings.
My team and I got to live with a sweet girl named Betty, who is our age. One evening after ministry, Betty asked Taylor, my teammate, and I to visit her aunts house with her. We walked across the only paved road in the village and into her Aunt Ana’s yard. Ana had her two daughters, Miriam and Rosina, outside with her. We talked for a while, shared a bit of what Jesus had been showing us lately, and before we left, Ana asked us to pray for her youngest, Rosina.
Rosina is a beautiful baby around 1 years old. She is all smiles and has the most beautiful eyes. Rosina routinely had to visit the hospital for her head. On one side of her scull, there was a massive goose egg that looked ready to burst. Ana told us that when they go to the hospital, she has to get infected blood removed from the bump.
I’ll be completely honest, it looked bad. I did not want to touch the infected egg-sized wound on her head. I knew that Christ performs miracles daily for His kids, and I had seen 12 miracles in that week alone. However, every miracle I had seen was internal. Aching legs, a hurt shoulder, stomach problems… I knew they were still miracles, but I couldn’t SEE the healing. With Rosina, I would be able to see if she was healed, and I didn’t want to be let down.
But despite these thoughts running through my mind, Taylor, Betty and I prayed for baby Rosina. Twice, actually. We left Ana’s home with no visible healing taken place.
The next evening, Christmas Eve, Ana showed up outside our tents, and with pure joy in her eyes, she said, “She’s healed.”
I jumped out of my chair and Ana grabbed my hand to take me to see Rosina.
Ana took Rosina from her grandfathers arms, pulled off the baby’s hat, and the massive bump was completely gone.
Her head was back to normal with absolutely no sign of anything ever being wrong with it.
As He has after every miracle I have witnessed, Christ reminded me that He is the miracle worker. He has the ability to heal all wounds, whether you can visibly see them or not. Internal, external, emotional… He can heal it all.
He also reminded me that His timing isn’t always ours. I would’ve loved to see immediate healing in baby Rosina, right when we prayed for her. But He waited. Not long of course, but I think He wanted to remind us that He is capable and willing in His own time.
Every time I think of Rosina, He reminds me that my story is not just for me. It is my responsibility to share the miracles He performs and lessons He teaches. I have no doubt that Ana prayed for her precious child every single day, but maybe the reason He waited to heal her until Taylor and I were there is so that I can write about it and tell others back home. Maybe there is someone reading this that needs to be reminded of how BIG God is, of how capable He is, and how loving He is.
His timing is absolutely perfect 100% of the time, and I have no doubt that He let me witness that beautiful baby being healed for my own faith, and for the faith of the people I get to share this mighty story with.
Our God is good. He is the God of crazy miracles. Have faith that His timing is better than our own, and be bold in sharing the great works He has done in your own life.
