I am tired of complacency.
I am tired of stagnant obedience being mistaken for passion.
“the people who walk in darkness will see a great light.
for those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine.
You will enlarge the nation of Israel,
and its people will rejoice.
They will rejoice before you
as people rejoice at the harvest
and like warriors dividing the plunder.
For you will break the yoke of their slavery
and life the heavy burden from their shoulders.
you will break the oppressor’s rod…
…the passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen”
God is specifically telling us that through our passionate commitment to his love and his way that WE his beloved daughters and sons will bring glory to the earth. Do we not understand the magnitude of this. God so easily could bring his glory to earth… pick us up and carry us into his kingdom but he asks us and straight forwardly tells us that he places power in our hands to be his body. To bring glory. why do we choose to pull our feet through one day to the next slowly searching for his truth as if its not there or hidden behind some sort of daunting wall.
We are constantly given the feeling that we have time to be young… to search to experiment to figure out whatever it is we feel like doing… but really all we’re doing is wasting time. God uses us when we allow ourselves to be and at times he uses us even if we are not willing and shows us over and over just how much bigger his love and plan for us is. If we fully commit in a way that is unmistakable there is no way that our Father would simply lift his hand and say mmm not yet I don’t have time to figure out what to do with you but maybe in a year or so. Not a chance. He may wait silently for us to give up the idols in our lives that we like to keep as security and turn to him completely before sending us out.
How can we claim to know such a beautiful God when nothing we do in our lives contains passion? Jesus is the most passionate man of the world. He rejoices, and weeps and gets angry. He didn’t hide his hearts burden or joy… he lived in it.
It is time to live in the passion and drive that God so desperately wants us to feel.
Rejoice in the burden he has placed on your heart. There is nothing more beautiful and worthy to be carrying than the pain of passion given to us by him.
