India has been one heck of a culture shock. We went from Ireland where it was really cold, to India where it’s really hot! I haven’t quite gotten used to the spicy food, but have enjoyed trying to swallow every last bite. India is an amazing country. I have enjoyed working along side different pastors in the villages and tribes we go to. I have enjoyed preaching to the people of India so much this month, I didn’t really know how my testimony would impact people so much. I thought my story was just another story, but I was wrong. My team and I have had the opportunity to pray for hundreds of people and have had multiple encounters where the Lord has definitely showed up. I try so hard everyday to not get so hung up in being here, that I’m not living in the moment. I am so caught up in a routine right now, that I feel like I’m just constantly doing the same exact thing every day, which I am, but trying to not get too comfortable in what I’m doing that I lose track of why I’m on the World Race.
My team and I also had the opportunity to name an 8 day old baby on Sunday. We all had to pray for a name for him, and we decided on Micah. It was an honor to be able to do that. I was so happy to do that for the family. I am loving every minute of the World Race, it’s crazy that I’ve been out of the states for 4 months. In these past 4 months I think I’ve grown more in my relationship with God, and my faith than I ever have in my walk with the Lord. India has taken my breath away by how beautiful and hospitable the people are. Our contact we are living with is amazing. His family has shown us so much love its mind blowing. They’ve shown God’s love by cooking all our meals, cleaning our laundry, and teaching us Telegu. I love that they laugh at our mistakes or little things we do, because they do understand us and we’re building relationship with them even if we do have a language barrier.
Here are 11 things I’ve noticed while living here:
11. Cows and goats roam the streets like it’s their home. (cows aren’t nice at all.)
10. Indian food does NOT like my stomach.
9. I have enjoyed telling my story and praying for hundreds of people every night.
8. The HOT weather isn’t all that bad. (just get used to being sticky hot if you do come here)
7. Sahrees are beautiful, but hot to be in.
6. I did see 1 monkey, He was bigger than I expected.
5. I’ve enjoyed having the power go out every 20-30 minutes, NOT!
4. Everyone can’t pronounce my name so they call me Harry or Henry. (no joke.)
3. My team and I got to name an 8 day old baby, we chose the name Micah.
2. Everyone drives a motorcycle, you can fit up to 6 people on one.
1. We get served some type of soda or tea at every house we visit.
