El Salvador. Well, every single day since we have been here we have had pupusas. Everywhere you look, you can find them. Being in Central America a lot of my experiences here have compared to Nicaragua. Also in some ways it is so completely different. I have been enjoying my life here so so much and I am so thankful to be able to experience this.

Our host family is so awesome, they have 4 kids who have become family to us. We overloaded their house with 14 extra people. They spoil us so much with ice cream, a washing machine, and they even built us a shelter in the yard. I slept in a bed for the first 5 days. They make me feel at home. Our translator Vincent lives in our neighborhood and is 17. He took us to his youth group one night and I felt at home.

The first 5 days here were full of smiles, church services, and adventure. I didn’t have a doubt in my mind that I was supposed to be here. Then we got wifi in the house and it went down hill. I don’t know how to not be connected with the place I love that has been my home for 18 years. I don’t know how to not check instagram pictures and ask about all things vb. At home, I can know what everyone is up to in the click of a button. I am realizing my life on the race cannot be consumed by wifi. I want to be present SO bad and am challenging myself to be super intentional with my time talking to friends back home.

My team has agreed to keep each other accountable with how much time we spend on our phones. This is such a blessing because I cannot do this on my own. I need to learn how to care for my friends back home without texting every second. It just bums me out knowing how much I’m missing out on at home. But if I continue to worry about that, then I will miss all that the Lord is doing right here in El Salvador. I have already seen so many tangible ways the Lord is working through me here and I do believe I’m here for a reason.

Please continue to pray for me as I overcome my first challenge on this adventure.
