Thanksgiving is almost here! Come flood Instagram and Twitter with the hashtags of #thankful, pictures of turkey feasts, family photos, Christmas trees being put up; holiday cheer in full swing.
Here I sit, a mere 24 hours away from being home for Thanksgiving break and I am truly thankful. I am so excited to go home and see my family and spend it with them. But I am also sad.
As my friends and roommates are packing their belongings simply for a long weekend at home, I am packing much more than that. I am packing some dishes, school work, clothes, and paintings. I am packing to leave my university.
I sit in the middle of my floor in my room amidst colorful totes with NeedToBreathe in the background and I feel as though this moment is surreal. In a few short weeks I will finish packing the rest of my belongings that are in this awesome room to take them home. Be home for a few more weeks and then be off an adventure of a lifetime!
Can you believe it?! I saw a countdown that said 43 days until we launch. That’s just amazing.
So though I am debating on if I should leave my paints here at school for a few more weeks or take them home, the real thing is, this room has housed me for only a few months but my heart is here. While I was in DC I realized that my apartment was my home when I needed it most. I am excited to see where my heart goes next during this adventure that is coming.
