I sat down realizing that it has almost been a month since my last post… I am slacking. For that I am truly sorry. The bad thing is I have absolutely no reason for not posting one. I am blessed with internet. I am blessed with ministry that I could be telling you about. I am blessed with time to write. I am blessed by the people I live with. I have stories to share but a part of me feels like I don’t. A small part of me feels as though I could type out these stories but for what. I know that it is the devil himself making me think that people wouldn’t read anything I have to say. GET BEHIND ME SATAN for I have things to say and I am going to say them. People care and they will read my blog. So here it is…
The past two months now a small group of us girls have been going to the streets. At first we didn’t know what to expect, this was a new thing for all of us, but we went and we sought out opportunity. The streets. This is a “woman’s ministry” so we are told. But let me ask you something… what determines something to be a “men’s” or “woman’s” ministry? What qualifications does a woman need to go out to the jungle and talk to tribes? Why is it assumed that woman do the “easy, safe” work of our heavenly father. If we are working to bring kingdom why does it matter how or where you are doing that? Yes, I understand that it may be dangerous at points and it can get hard, but don’t underestimate the power of women.
The way to reach the heart of a woman is through another woman. The way to reach the heart of a man is through another man. I understand that the man are the head of the table and the strength of the household. Personally, I think that women are constantly overlooked and men are constantly given more credit.
There are things that women will never understand about men and things that men will never understand about women. That’s okay. In ministry women are overlooked when men are around. Asked to help cook and clean. Expected to take care of you when you are sick. Yes, these are all things that we will ABSOLUTELY with no doubt do for you because we love you. We are natural nurturers and have motherly instincts. We will do all of those things but we will also: pick up a machete and hack away at the jungle brush, hike miles through mud to get to remote villages and preach the Word, do construction, lift heavy objects… we “pick things up and put them down” too. Women of ministry are strong emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually we are courageous, brave, and powerful. We have the hand of God on us just as the men do in everything that we do. “I am not a huge feminist but when women are told that we can’t do something that would bring Kingdom, that’s where I draw the line.” a friend and I were talking about this earlier today and I agree with her one hundred percent.
Women of God. Daughters of our Heavenly Father. Don’t stay home because this ministry is “for the men” that is when you get up and prove them wrong. Women are just as capable as men are. Of course there are times when it is just something for men and just something for women but I believe that there is nothing stronger than men and women working together to bring Kingdom. Being able to work as a team to target both groups of people. Don’t exclude us, use what we have and use the womanly gifts God blessed us with and we will do the same for you.
Everyone has so much to give, so let’s go out and give whatchya got.
k. that’s all. bye-bye now.
