Hi friends!
The past 3 days have been such a gift from God. Last week, our ministry host got a call from the leader in the village of Batuan (located near the city of Ubud…about 1 hour away from where we are staying) and asked him if our team would like to come into their village to start a children’s ministry there. We gladly accepted and packed up our tents and planned out what we would be teaching the children there for the next 3 days. This was such amazing opportunity because they have never had a program like this in Batuan. We were able to teach the kids English, share Bible stories with them and tell them about Jesus, and have so much fun singing and playing games all together!
The community leaders were also so hospitable and welcoming to our team. We felt so honored and blessed to get to spend time with them all while we were there. The community also taught us so much about their culture, which we absolutely loved. They taught us Balinese dancing, how to play Balinese instruments, showed us their favorite places in the area like the local waterfall and traditional market, and even dressed us up in traditional clothing and took us out for a photoshoot around the village!
When it was time to say goodbye, we all felt a pain in our hearts because we had connected with them so much, even after just knowing each other for 3 days. We thank God for the opportunity we had to serve in Batuan and the connections we made there. This beautiful community will forever have a place in our hearts and prayers.
For His Glory,
Greg & Alyssa
Prayer request: Please pray for healing for our team! We all have been feeling a bit under the weather — some have had fevers, upset stomachs, tiredness/fatigue, throwing up, etc. — but we have thankfully been invited by a local church planter and his wife to rest up in their home today (it’s air conditioned…praise!). After taking some medicine and resting today, I hope that we will all be feeling better by tomorrow so that we can continue our last week of ministry in Bali before flying to Manila, Philippines!
