Proverbs 30:2-8

2 I am the most ignorant of men. I do not have mans understanding.

3 I have not learned wisdom, nor have I knowledge of the Holy One.

4 Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Who has gathered up the winds in the hollows of their hands? Who has wrapped up the waters in their cloak? Who has established all the ends of the Earth? What is his name and the name of his son? Tell me if you know him!

5 Every word of God is flawless. He is a shield for those who take refuge in him.

6Do not add to Gods word or he will rebuke you and prove you to be a liar.

7 Two things I ask of you O lord do not refuse me before I die.

8 Keep falsehood and liars far from me. Give me neither poverty or riches, but give me only my daily bread.

This is a passage I have memorized recently. I want to share its significance in my life. In studying Matthew Henry’s commentary on the chapter, I discovered that Agur is believed to be a “collector of wise sayings” and one who made abstracts of others writings. This makes Agur relatable to me. In my poetry and other writing I often rely on the Holy Spirit to discern scripture and it’s application in my walk. The Holy Spirit digests the scripture and when pen meets paper I make my feeble attempt to express how God continues to gracefully lead me despite my pride, my frailty, and stubbornness.

I appreciate Agur for his concise message that I strive to reflect on each day. Matthew Henry divided it into 3 parts.

A personal confession of faith preceded by his admission of his folly and deficiency of reason.

Advancing Jesus Christ and the Father in him.

Assure the truth of the Word of God and recommend it.

I think if I can start every day in awe and reverence of God’s sovereignty then I am off to a pretty good start.

The second part of verse 8 is where I’ve been convicted lately. The world race has made me appreciate my life in America for what it is. I am nowhere near poverty and by world standards I am pretty stinking rich. This I am grateful for. I have been well fed overseas but my hunger for my spiritual daily bread has grown. The Bible is for everyone, you, me, Agur, children, grandparents, EVERYONE. It breaks my heart when people let other people’s interpretations of the Bible turn them away from Jesus. Do yourself a favor and give God a fair chance. He’s got an amazing son who died for you and the Bible is honestly the only way you’re going to find the answers you’re looking for. Not happy with your job? family dynamics seem off? friendships lost? The past haunting your present? The Bible is our eternal source of wisdom and the devil doesn’t want us to know what it has for us. Men and women are destined to skew Gods heart and nature but God will tell you who he is you just have to read his word, pray on it and bury it in your heart.

We all have a testimony. Read Gods. He manifested in the flesh to be made right with his people. There’s no greater love story, no greater adventure than the Bible. Tell me anything about your life, ask me anything, anything you’ve never found an answer to and I’d be a monkeys uncle if the Bible doesn’t have something for you to relate to. Most of us like knowing how the story ends. The Bible spells it out as plain as we can handle. The world is hungry for more Agurs’. People who take their daily bread from the Word of God, proclaim Gods glory, and share their heart for the Father to the nations. Tend to your flocks, the hunger is great.

I am still in need of $1,930 for this race to be fully funded. I have been blown away from the enormous amount of generosity pouring in from friends and family all over the country. If you feel led to contribute to my journey please click on the support me tab. As always I am always in need of prayers as my team is helping build an orphanage in Nepal. Next month my very ownstep mother will be joining me in Swaziland for a week! I am beyond excited to be able to share this race with her!!!

In Christ,
